Do you think bikes are popular in your country?
Thí sinh
While here in Dubai I think it's less popular than in other countries just because of the heat and the long roads, but in Lebanon where I'm from I'm assuming it would be a lot more popular and common to bike around places.

Điểm: 72.0Gợi ý: Be more natural and concise: start with a clear topic sentence, correct minor phrasing errors, and add one specific supporting detail. Avoid vague phrases like “pretty hard.” Use linking words to connect ideas (e.g., “because” or “so”).
Ví dụ: Yes, I had a saddle bike when I was a child. However, because we live in Dubai where it’s very hot and the roads aren’t bike-friendly, I didn’t get to ride it as often as I wanted. I usually rode it only in the cooler months on quieter streets.
Do you think bikes are popular in your country?
Điểm: 76.0Gợi ý: Provide a direct topic sentence, use clearer comparisons, and support your view with a specific reason or example. Replace vague words like “assuming” with firmer language if you know the fact, and use linking words (e.g., “whereas,” “because,” “for example”).
Ví dụ: In Dubai, cycling is not very popular because of the extreme heat and the long, busy roads. In contrast, in my home country Lebanon, cycling is more common, especially in smaller towns and on coastal paths where people use bikes for short journeys and leisure.
× Yes, I did use Saddlebike as a child, but since we live in Dubai and it's pretty hard, I didn't get to use it as much as I would have liked to.
✓ Yes, I used a saddle bike as a child, but since we lived in Dubai and it was quite hot, I didn't get to use it as much as I would have liked to.
Errors include incorrect auxiliary use and form: 'did use' is unnecessary for simple past affirmative (use simple past 'used'), and 'Saddlebike' should be 'a saddle bike' (article and spacing). Tense consistency: the question asked about childhood, so use past tense 'lived' rather than 'live'. The phrase 'it's pretty hard' is unclear—likely meant 'it was quite hot' to explain why biking was difficult. Improve by using simple past for past facts, adding the indefinite article before a countable noun, and choosing clear adjectives ('hot').
× While here in Dubai I think it's less popular than in other countries just because of the heat and the long roads, but in Lebanon where I'm from I'm assuming it would be a lot more popular and common to bike around places.
✓ Here in Dubai I think it is less popular than in other countries because of the heat and the long roads, but in Lebanon, where I'm from, I assume it is much more popular and common to ride bicycles around.
Problems: tense and modal misuse. Mixing 'I think' with 'I'm assuming it would be' creates inconsistency. Use present simple 'I assume it is' to express a current general belief. 'Bike around places' is informal; 'ride bicycles around' is clearer. Add commas for clarity after introductory phrase and the clause 'where I'm from'. Replace 'a lot more' with 'much more' for formality and correctness. Improve by maintaining consistent present-tense verbs for general statements and using clearer vocabulary.
