Did you have a bike when you were a child?

Yes I did actually, if my memory serves me right it was a present from my dad and my mom for my 8th birthday and to this day I still love it but I'm not using it like currently right now.

Do you think bikes are popular in your country?

Thí sinh

Not that popular I must admit. The thing is that most people in my country prefer to use their motorbikes more. Besides that, I do think that there are not much cycling for those who use bikes. So in general I do not think that is that popular.

Part 1

Did you have a bike when you were a child?

Điểm: 72.0

Gợi ý: Câu trả lời nên trực diện hơn, dùng câu chủ đề rõ ràng, rút gọn những phần thừa và tránh lặp từ. Thêm một hoặc hai chi tiết cụ thể (ví dụ: màu sắc xe, kỷ niệm ngắn) để làm câu trả lời sinh động hơn. Hạn chế câu quá dài và chia thành 2–3 câu ngắn theo cấu trúc: trả lời trực tiếp → chi tiết bổ sung.

Ví dụ: Yes, I had a bike when I was a child. It was a red bicycle my parents gave me for my eighth birthday, and I rode it every afternoon around the neighborhood. Although I don't use it now, I still keep it because it reminds me of fun times with my family.

Do you think bikes are popular in your country?

Điểm: 68.0

Gợi ý: Câu trả lời cần mạch lạc hơn, tránh lặp ý và lỗi ngữ pháp (ví dụ: "not much cycling" → "not many people cycle"). Bắt đầu bằng câu chủ đề rõ ràng, rồi dùng liên từ như 'because' hoặc 'however' để giải thích lý do, và thêm một ví dụ hoặc so sánh cụ thể (thống kê cảm nhận hoặc ảnh hưởng của cơ sở hạ tầng) để tăng thuyết phục.

Ví dụ: Not really — I don't think bicycles are very popular in my country because most people prefer motorbikes for convenience and speed. For example, our cities have busy roads and few dedicated bike lanes, so many people find cycling unsafe or impractical.

Ngữ pháp

Past tense issue

× Yes I did actually, if my memory serves me right it was a present from my dad and my mom for my 8th birthday and to this day I still love it but I'm not using it like currently right now.

Yes, I did. If my memory serves me right, it was a present from my dad and my mom for my eighth birthday, and to this day I still love it, but I'm not using it currently.

The sentence mixes past and present continuous awkwardly and includes redundant time expressions. Correct the punctuation and split into clearer clauses. Use 'did' as short answer then continue with 'If my memory serves me right' + past tense 'it was a present'. Replace 'like currently right now' with a single correct phrase 'currently' to avoid redundancy. Also add commas for clarity.

Incorrect use of quantifiers

× Not that popular I must admit.

Not very popular, I must admit.

'Not that popular' is informal but acceptable; however 'not very popular' is grammatically clearer and fits the register. Change 'that' to 'very' to correct the quantifier usage and add a comma.

Sentence structure errors

× The thing is that most people in my country prefer to use their motorbikes more.

The thing is that most people in my country prefer to use motorbikes instead.

'Prefer to use their motorbikes more' is awkward and redundant. Use 'prefer to use motorbikes instead' to convey the comparison clearly. Remove unnecessary possessive 'their' when speaking generally and replace 'more' with 'instead'.

Incorrect use of quantifiers

× Besides that, I do think that there are not much cycling for those who use bikes.

Besides that, I think there is not much cycling among people who use bikes.

'Not much cycling' requires singular 'there is' (uncountable noun 'cycling'), so change 'there are not' to 'there is not'. Also use 'among people who use bikes' instead of 'for those who use bikes' for clarity. 'I do think' is acceptable but 'I think' is more natural.

Sentence structure errors

× So in general I do not think that is that popular.

So in general I do not think that it is very popular.

Sentence misses the subject 'it' before 'is'. Also 'that popular' is informal; use 'very popular' for clearer expression. Keep 'do not think' for emphasis or 'don't think' for contraction.
