Do you work or are you a student?
Điểm: 78.0Gợi ý: Answer directly by clearly stating that you are now working. Correct the phrase “in at the same university” to “at the same university,” and use a more natural expression such as “my daily life has not changed much.” You provide relevant supporting details, but the final sentence could explain more clearly why the transition feels similar.
Ví dụ: I finished my studies a couple of months ago, and I now work as a research assistant at the same university. I am still in the same research group and work under the same supervisor, so my daily routine has not changed much. The main difference is that I now have more research responsibilities.
Where do you study?
Điểm: 72.0Gợi ý: Give a more direct answer by naming your current university or city first. The question is in the present tense, but your answer focuses mainly on your past and does not specify exactly where you study now. You could then add the background information about moving from Sri Lanka to Australia.
Ví dụ: I study at Monash University in Australia. I originally studied in Sri Lanka, but I moved here about three years ago to pursue postgraduate studies. I have enjoyed studying in such an international academic environment.
Is it a good place to study?
Điểm: 64.0Gợi ý: Use a clear topic sentence and correct several unnatural phrases: say “I would definitely recommend it,” “pursue a career in academia,” and “supports researchers’ career development.” Avoid “UH researchers” unless it is a specific term, and connect your reasons more smoothly. Your ideas are relevant and specific, especially the reference to modern facilities.
Ví dụ: Yes, definitely. I would recommend Monash University to anyone who wants to pursue a career in academia. It has state-of-the-art facilities and provides strong support for researchers, including funding opportunities, professional training, and access to experienced supervisors. These resources create a very supportive environment for higher education.
Would you like the place where you study to make any changes?
Điểm: 68.0Gợi ý: Your answer has a clear opinion and a relevant example, but it contains repetition, hesitation, and a long, disconnected sentence. Use “I would prefer the university to introduce” instead of “if the university can introduce,” and explain the purpose more naturally: “activities that allow students and alumni to reconnect.” Keep the answer to three or four well-linked sentences.
Ví dụ: Yes. I would like the university to organise more social activities for graduate students and alumni. At the moment, there are not many opportunities for them to meet, share their experiences, and reconnect with old friends. For example, regular networking events or informal reunions would help create a stronger university community.
What are your future study plans?
Điểm: 73.0Gợi ý: The answer is relevant and shows a clear contrast between your short-term and long-term plans. Replace informal or unnatural expressions such as “study about business studies,” “business administrative stuff,” and “jump into a totally different path” with more precise language. Avoid repeated hesitations and state the reason for studying business more directly.
Ví dụ: For the foreseeable future, I plan to continue working in research. However, in the long term, I would like to study business administration because it could help me move into a different career path. I am particularly interested in developing management and entrepreneurial skills, which would complement my academic experience.
× I finished my studies a couple of months ago and started working as a research assistant in at the same university.
✓ I finished my studies a couple of months ago and started working as a research assistant at the same university.
The preposition in is incorrect before the university. Use at to indicate the institution where someone studies or works. Do not use in and at together here.
× Yes definitely I would recommend anyone to come to Monash University if they genuinely like to continue in their career in specially in academic industry.
✓ Yes, definitely. I would recommend anyone to come to Monash University if they genuinely want to continue their career, especially in the academic industry.
Specially usually means for a particular purpose, whereas especially means particularly and is appropriate in this context. The sentence also needs punctuation after Yes and before especially.
× Yes definitely I would recommend anyone to come to Monash University if they genuinely like to continue in their career in specially in academic industry.
✓ Yes, definitely. I would recommend anyone to come to Monash University if they genuinely want to continue their career, especially in the academic industry.
Academic industry is being used as a specific field or sector, so it normally takes the definite article the. The sentence also needs punctuation after Yes.
× Monash University offers state-of-the-art facilities and also support a lot towards UH researchers career success.
✓ Monash University offers state-of-the-art facilities and also supports UH researchers' career success.
The subject Monash University is singular, so both verbs must have singular forms: offers and supports. The plural possessive form researchers' is used because the career success belongs to the researchers.
× At the moment I do not see a lot of such activities Where umm, they. Allow students to get together and bring back their memories.
✓ At the moment, I do not see many such activities that allow students to get together and reminisce.
The original wording contains an incorrectly separated sentence fragment and incorrect capitalization. Use the relative clause that allow students to describe the activities. Reminisce is the natural verb for remembering the past together.
× At some point I would like to, uh, study about business studies or some business administrative stuff.
✓ At some point, I would like to study business studies or business administration.
Study is normally used directly with the subject being studied, so the preposition about is unnecessary. Business administration is the standard noun phrase; business administrative stuff is not appropriate in this formal context.
× Which will help me to jump into, uh, totally different path compared to what I am doing. Now.
✓ This would help me move into a totally different path from what I am doing now.
The original sentence is a fragment because it begins with Which and is separated from the main clause. It also incorrectly divides Now into a separate fragment. Joining the idea to the preceding sentence creates a complete sentence.
