Ví dụ: Yes, we share an interest in basketball. My mother played when she was young and we often watch matches together, which is how we bond. I would say she is the family member whose hobby most closely matches mine.
× Yes, I used to play basketball from 15 years old.
✓ Yes, I used to play basketball from the age of 15.
The phrase 'from 15 years old' is not the correct English expression for indicating the starting age. Use 'from the age of 15' or 'since I was 15' to show when the activity began. This is a past-tense context so 'used to' is correct; only the age expression needed correction.
× We used to play in the different basketball leagues as well as different towns are uh, uh, against different uh teams.
✓ We used to play in different basketball leagues and in different towns against various teams.
The original sentence has a verb agreement/structure problem and awkward insertion of 'are' that doesn't fit. 'Are' is incorrect here. Also 'the different' is unnecessary; use 'different' and 'various teams' for clarity. Keep past tense 'used to play'.
× Right now, uh, due to huge load of tasks and assignments, I cannot find uh time.
✓ Right now, due to a huge load of tasks and assignments, I cannot find time.
Missing article 'a' before 'huge load' is an article error (22) but also affects present-tense sentence clarity. I corrected to include 'a'. This sentence otherwise correctly uses present tense 'cannot find'.
× But in the future, I'm definitely looking forward to find uh basketball sessions.
✓ But in the future, I'm definitely looking forward to finding basketball sessions.
After the phrase 'looking forward to', English requires a gerund (verb + -ing) or a noun. 'To find' (infinitive) is incorrect here. Change to 'finding' to follow the correct verb + -ing construction.
× Uh, when I used to be a child, I, I had an art classes where we used to draw different modes and, uh, uh, futuristic compositions.
✓ When I was a child, I had art classes where we used to draw different models and futuristic compositions.
'Used to be a child' is redundant and unidiomatic; simply 'when I was a child' is correct. 'I had an art classes' mixes singular 'a' with plural 'classes' — remove 'a'. Also 'modes' likely meant 'models'. Keep past tense 'had' and 'used to draw'.
× At the moment, I cannot find time right now, but in the future, I'm definitely looking forward also to, uh, come back and improve my art, art skills.
✓ At the moment, I cannot find time, but in the future I'm definitely looking forward to coming back and improving my art skills.
Redundant phrases 'At the moment' and 'right now' — keep one. After 'looking forward to' use the gerund 'coming back', not the infinitive 'to come back'. Also 'improving' should be a gerund to match parallel structure. Remove the repeated 'art'.
× As I mentioned before, I used to play basketball, uh, at the moment, uh, due to huge load of assignments and a task for my architecture studies, I cannot find, uh, but uh, in the future, I'm looking forward for an indoor facility where we could play uh, and do basketball sessions with other people.
✓ As I mentioned before, I used to play basketball; at the moment, due to a huge load of assignments for my architecture studies, I cannot play, but in the future I'm looking for an indoor facility where we can play and have basketball sessions with other people.
Multiple issues: 'due to huge load' needs article 'a' (article error). 'Looking forward for' is incorrect — use 'looking for' or 'looking forward to' + gerund. I changed to 'looking for an indoor facility' to match intended meaning. Use 'we can play' (present modal) to express future possibility and 'have basketball sessions' for natural phrasing.
× Yes, definitely. My mom, she used to play basketball when she was a kid and, uh, we're watching together basketball games.
✓ Yes, definitely. My mom used to play basketball when she was a kid, and we watch basketball games together.
Redundant pronoun 'she' after 'My mom' is unnecessary. 'We're watching together basketball games' is awkward; use simple present 'we watch' for habitual action and place 'together' after the verb: 'watch basketball games together.'
× So it's one of her favorite sports, uh, as well as, uh, uh, watching.
✓ So it's one of her favorite sports, as well as watching it.
The original is fragmented and unclear. To express that watching is also a favorite, use 'watching it' or 'watching games.' 'Watching' as a gerund completes the comparison.
× So yeah, I would say if I had to choose, uh, a person, it would be my mom.
✓ So yeah, I would say if I had to choose a person, it would be my mom.
The comma placement and extra filler words interrupt the sentence. Remove the comma before 'a person' for correct sentence flow: 'if I had to choose a person, it would be my mom.'
