Do you prefer typing or handwriting?

Candidato

I usually prefer umm, typing because on typing there is umm, common form of writing and letters. But when I write uh, my writing is specifically cursive and uh, block letters. Uh, it is a combination. But when we type on phone and all, it is one font only. So I really like uh, typing more and I am really quick at typing, so I think I'll prefer typing more.

Examinador

Do you type on a desktop or laptop keyboard every day?

Candidato

I type on a laptop because I don't have a desktop because there's no need to, uh, for me to have a desktop. I am still a college student, so there's no need for having desktop. But if I get a chance, then I'll choose key keypad because keypad is. I can adjust it when, uh, on my length, like my hands length with laptop if we have to, umm, if the keypad is.

Examinador

When did you learn how to type on a keyboard?

Candidato

I actually learned to type on a keyboard around I can say 3rd, 4th standard because we were having a subject called computer and we used to have a lot of works and assignments to do. And I initially started learning from there. Slowly, slowly, slowly I started to learn a small small letters and all first then I can. Right now if I say I can just type everything without even looking at keypad.

Examinador

How do you improve your typing?

Candidato

I guess we can improve your typing by just practicing it more and more because it is said practice makes a pan perfect. So I think I also got perfect in that by typing a lot and a lot, by practising a lot, a lot and a lot at schools, colleges, at home. Because right now also of design assignments, I have a lot of work I have to do on laptop. So I get a lot of, uh, writing work. So I did it by practice.

Part 1

Do you prefer typing or handwriting?

Pontuação: 70.0

Sugestão: Be more concise and reduce hesitations. Start with a clear topic sentence, then give one or two specific supporting reasons using linking words (for example, “because” or “also”). Avoid filler words like “umm” and “uh” and limit to max 4–5 sentences.

Exemplo: I prefer typing to handwriting because it is faster and the text looks consistent. For example, when I type on my laptop or phone the font is uniform, which makes documents neater. Also, I can edit and share typed text more easily than handwritten notes.

Do you type on a desktop or laptop keyboard every day?

Pontuação: 60.0

Sugestão: Organize your answer: state the device first, then give one clear reason and one conditional preference. Reduce repetition and hesitations. Use linking words like “because” and “however” to connect ideas. Be specific about why an external keyboard might be better (comfort, ergonomics).

Exemplo: I use a laptop every day because as a college student I don’t need a desktop and a laptop is more portable. However, if I could choose, I would prefer an external keyboard because it is more ergonomic and I can adjust it to fit my hand size for more comfortable typing.

When did you learn how to type on a keyboard?

Pontuação: 75.0

Sugestão: Provide a clear timeline and concise supporting detail. Replace repetitive phrasing with one or two specific sentences. Use linking words like “because” or “so” to explain progress and give a concrete result (e.g. current speed).

Exemplo: I learned to type when I was in about third or fourth grade because we had computer classes with many assignments. I practiced gradually, starting with small letters, and now I can touch-type without looking at the keys.

How do you improve your typing?

Pontuação: 65.0

Sugestão: Avoid vague generalities and correct idioms. State one or two specific practice methods and explain their benefit. Use concise sentences and remove repetition. Mention tools or exercises (typing tests, lessons, timed practice) to show concrete strategies.

Exemplo: I improved my typing through regular deliberate practice. For example, I used online typing lessons and timed tests to increase my speed, and I typed assignments daily, which helped me build accuracy and endurance.

Gramática

Incorrect use of prepositions

× I usually prefer umm, typing because on typing there is umm, common form of writing and letters.

I usually prefer typing because in typing there is a common form of writing and letters.

Use of preposition 'on' is incorrect with 'typing' in this context; 'in typing' correctly indicates within the activity. Also remove filler words for clarity.

Incorrect use of pronouns

× But when I write uh, my writing is specifically cursive and uh, block letters.

But when I write, my handwriting is either cursive or block letters.

Use 'handwriting' rather than 'writing' to refer to style, and use 'either...or' to present alternatives; replace vague 'and' with 'or' for clarity.

Sentence structure errors

× Uh, it is a combination.

It is a combination of cursive and block styles.

Sentence is vague; specify what 'combination' refers to so meaning is clear and complete.

Incorrect use of prepositions

× But when we type on phone and all, it is one font only.

But when we type on a phone or similar device, there is usually only one font.

Use 'on a phone' not 'on phone', and 'or similar device' is clearer than 'and all'; reorder to natural English and use 'there is' for existence.

Subject-verb agreement errors

× So I really like uh, typing more and I am really quick at typing, so I think I'll prefer typing more.

So I really like typing more and I am quick at it, so I think I prefer typing.

Redundant phrases 'really' and 'more' repeated; use simple present 'prefer' to state general preference and 'quick at it' for idiomatic expression.

Incorrect use of pronouns

× I type on a laptop because I don't have a desktop because there's no need to, uh, for me to have a desktop.

I type on a laptop because I don't have a desktop; there is no need for me to own one.

Avoid repeating 'because'; use clearer structure and 'own one' is more natural than 'have a desktop'.

Present tense issue

× I am still a college student, so there's no need for having desktop.

I am still a college student, so there is no need to have a desktop.

Use infinitive 'to have' after 'no need' rather than 'for having'; align tense and form for natural English.

Sentence structure errors

× But if I get a chance, then I'll choose key keypad because keypad is.

But if I get a chance, I'll choose an external keypad because it is adjustable.

Original sentence is incomplete and unclear; supply 'external' and complete the idea that the keypad is adjustable.

Incorrect use of prepositions

× I can adjust it when, uh, on my length, like my hands length with laptop if we have to, umm, if the keypad is.

I can adjust it to suit the length of my hands with a laptop if the keypad is adjustable.

Use 'adjust to suit the length of my hands' and 'if the keypad is adjustable' to correct preposition and word order; original is ungrammatical and fragmented.

Past tense issue

× I actually learned to type on a keyboard around I can say 3rd, 4th standard because we were having a subject called computer and we used to have a lot of works and assignments to do.

I learned to type on a keyboard around third or fourth grade because we had a subject called computer studies and we used to have a lot of work and assignments.

Use simple past 'learned' and 'we had' for past habits; 'third or fourth grade' is natural, and 'work' is uncountable so not 'works'.

Past tense issue

× And I initially started learning from there.

I started learning there.

Redundant 'initially' with 'started'; simple past 'started' is sufficient and clearer.

Incorrect use of adjectives or adverbs

× Slowly, slowly, slowly I started to learn a small small letters and all first then I can.

Slowly, I began to learn small letters first.

Reduce repetition; use 'began' for past and 'small letters' (lowercase letters) is concise; remove trailing fragment 'then I can'.

Present tense issue

× Right now if I say I can just type everything without even looking at keypad.

Right now I can type everything without even looking at the keypad.

Remove conditional 'if I say' which is unnecessary; include definite article 'the' before 'keypad' and use simple present 'can type' for current ability.

Incorrect use of pronouns

× I guess we can improve your typing by just practicing it more and more because it is said practice makes a pan perfect.

I guess you can improve your typing by just practicing more and more because they say practice makes perfect.

'We can improve your typing' is mismatched pronoun use; use 'you' for advice. Correct proverb 'practice makes perfect' and remove extraneous 'pan'.

Incorrect use of adjectives or adverbs

× So I think I also got perfect in that by typing a lot and a lot, by practising a lot, a lot and a lot at schools, colleges, at home.

So I think I improved by typing a lot and practicing frequently at school, college, and at home.

Use 'improved' rather than 'got perfect', avoid repetition 'a lot' multiple times, and use parallel list 'school, college, and at home'.

Present tense issue

× Because right now also of design assignments, I have a lot of work I have to do on laptop.

Because of design assignments right now, I have a lot of work to do on my laptop.

Correct word order: 'Because of' introduces reason; use 'to do' infinitive and possessive 'my laptop'.

Sentence structure errors

× So I get a lot of, uh, writing work. So I did it by practice.

So I get a lot of writing work, and I improved my typing by practicing.

Combine sentences for flow and clarify cause-effect: practicing led to improvement. Use past participle 'improved' and gerund 'practicing'.
