Where is your hometown?
4) 注意代词和冠词(people here/people in my hometown; a lovely city)。
My hometown is Angui, a small city in [country]. It’s not very well known, but I like it because the people are very friendly. The city is peaceful and has several pleasant parks, which makes it a comfortable place to live.
What do you like about your home town?
3) 用连接词(for example, in particular)使逻辑清晰。
I like several things about my hometown, especially the public transport. For example, the subway network is punctual and covers most parts of the city, so I can usually get to work within twenty minutes without worrying about traffic. I have lived there for nearly 21 years. Compared with big cities, my hometown is much quieter at night, so I can sleep well and enjoy peaceful evenings without loud traffic or noise.
Is your home town a good place for young people?
2) 修正词汇:use 'few' vs 'a few' correctly;用 'trade-off' 或 'trade' 时句子要完整。3) 用连接词说明因果关系(as a result, however)。
I don’t think it’s a great place for young people because there are few local job opportunities. As a result, many young people move to larger cities like the capital to find better careers. However, the cost of living is much lower here, which can be an advantage for students or those who work remotely.
× Well, my hometown is in Angui province, which is a small city and to be honest, not many people have even heard of it.
✓ Well, my hometown is in Angui Province, which is a small city and, to be honest, not many people have even heard of it.
× But it is a lovely city 'cause people in here tend to be friendly, so for the simple fact that it's a good place to live.
✓ But it is a lovely city 'cause people here tend to be friendly, so, for the simple fact, it's a good place to live.
介词搭配错误:短语应为“people here”而不是“people in here”。此外“for the simple fact that”可缩短为“for the simple fact”更自然。
× There are several things I like about my hometown, such as attractive environment and unpleasant landscapes.
✓ There are several things I like about my hometown, such as an attractive environment and pleasant landscapes.
应为“an attractive environment”和“pleasant landscapes”。
× But what? But I guess my favorite is the public transport, especially subways.
✓ But I guess my favorite is public transport, especially the subway.
× It is very, very convenient and fluent so I can get to work or meet friends quickly without traffic jams.
✓ It is very, very convenient and fast, so I can get to work or meet friends quickly without traffic jams.
× I lived there since I was born, so it's nearly 21 years.
✓ I have lived there since I was born, so I'm nearly 21 years old.
此外“nearly 21 years”需说“nearly 21 years old”表示年龄。
× I love my city because it's very, especially during the night time, it's very quieter than the big city.
✓ I love my city because it's very peaceful, especially at night; it's much quieter than a big city.
× Place for young people I suppose.
✓ I suppose it is not a good place for young people.
根据上下文意图应改为否定句“not a good place”。
× It isn't because our city is a small city, so it offers a few job opportunities for young people.
✓ It isn't, because our city is small, so it offers few job opportunities for young people.
量词使用错误:“a few”表示有一些,而根据语境应表达“很少”,即“few”或“not many”。同时“a small city”可简化为“small”。
× As a result, most of them tend to find the find job to larger cities such as the capital.
✓ As a result, most of them tend to find jobs in larger cities such as the capital.
句子结构与词序错误:出现重复“find the find”且介词错误,应为“find jobs in larger cities”。
× However, in our city there's a low living cost you need to trade.
✓ However, in our city the cost of living is low, but you have to trade that off.
介词和表达不自然:原句“there's a low living cost you need to trade”结构不自然。改为“the cost of living is low”并用“trade that off”表达“需要权衡/代价”。
