Bike— Part 1 採点レポート

提案: Answer in the past tense because the question refers to your childhood. Use “had” rather than “have,” and add one specific supporting detail, such as when you used the bike or what you enjoyed doing with it. A linking word such as “especially” or “because” can make the response more developed and natural.

例: Yes, I had a bike when I was a child. I usually rode it around my neighborhood after school, especially at weekends. It was a simple red bike, but I really enjoyed riding it.

提案: Use the plural noun “bikes” with the plural verb “are,” rather than “it’s.” Give a clear reason or example to support your opinion, such as cycling for exercise, commuting, or avoiding traffic. This will make your answer more effective and demonstrate better grammatical range.

例: Yes, bikes are quite popular in my country, especially among young people and university students. Many people use them to exercise or travel short distances because they are affordable and help them avoid traffic.

× Yes, I have it.

✓ Yes, I had one.

The question asks about a past situation, so the past-tense form had is needed instead of the present-tense form have. One is more natural than it because the student is referring to a bike in general, not to a previously mentioned specific bike.

× It's very popular in my country.

✓ They are very popular in my country.

The subject bikes is plural, so it should be replaced with the plural pronoun they, and is should be changed to are. Use singular forms such as it is for one bike and plural forms such as they are for more than one bike.
