Do you like reading?
3) 注意语法时态和搭配(e.g. “help me improve”而非“help me to improve myself”更自然;“how the world works”更地道)。练习时可把答案控制在3句内,句子间用because/so/and连接。
例: Yes, I enjoy reading. It helps me improve my knowledge and gives me a sense of calm, because I can explore different ideas and perspectives in books. For these reasons, I try to read regularly.
Do you prefer to read on paper or on a screen?
建议:1) 开头直接回答并简洁列出理由(use 'for two reasons')2) 使用更自然的表达替换不地道的短语(例如“I'm slightly short-sighted”或“I’m nearsighted”),避免口头语“uh”。
I prefer reading on paper for two reasons. First, I enjoy the smell and tactile feel of printed books, which makes reading more pleasant. Second, paper is easier on my eyes because I'm slightly nearsighted, so I read printed books more often.
When do you need to read carefully, and when not?
建议:1) 开门见山给出两个清楚的情形(when I encounter new information / when the material is boring or too difficult)。2) 使用准确短语(例如 “when I encounter something I don't know” 和 “how the world works”)。
I read carefully when I encounter information that is new to me because I want to understand how things work and learn from it. However, I don't bother reading carefully if the material is extremely difficult or irrelevant, because it would be inefficient.
Do you prefer scanning or detailed reading?
建议:1) 清晰陈述条件性偏好(use 'it depends' then specify situations)2) 使用正确动词形式和搭配(e.g. 'I prefer scanning for familiar or quick information, but I do detailed reading when studying')。3) 避免冗长和口头语,保持每句简洁并用 linking words(however, because)连接。
例: It depends on the situation. I usually scan for familiar topics or when I need quick information, but I do detailed reading when I'm studying or learning something new because I need to understand it thoroughly.
× Yes I do. I think reading can help me to improve myself and I can also gain knowledge and inner peace by reading books. Also I can learn a lot from the books about the world so I always read books.
✓ Yes, I do. I think reading can help me improve myself, and I can also gain knowledge and inner peace by reading books. Also, I can learn a lot about the world from books, so I always read them.
说明:句中“help me to improve”中不需要不定式的“to”,更自然的表达是“help me improve”。“learn a lot from the books about the world”语序不自然,应改为“learn a lot about the world from books”。
× I prefer to read on paper because I like to smell the ink on paper. I don't know why but I really like that feeling. And I also think that, uh, paper can help me to protect my eyes because I'm a little short eyesight, so I prefer to read on paper.
✓ I prefer to read on paper because I like to smell the ink on paper. I don't know why, but I really like that feeling. And I also think that paper can help protect my eyes because my eyesight is a little poor, so I prefer to read on paper.
说明:句子中“help me to protect my eyes”中“me”可省略,常用表达为“help protect my eyes”。“I'm a little short eyesight”是错误搭配,应改为“my eyesight is a little poor”。
× MMM, When I raise something I never know before, I will read carefully because I want to know more about the world, how the world's operate. Umm. But yeah, when it comes to some tough things, I don't like it.
✓ When I encounter something I didn't know before, I read carefully because I want to know more about the world and how the world operates. But when it comes to some difficult topics, I don't like them.
说明:“raise something I never know before”结构不正确,应为“encounter something I didn't know before”或“come across something I didn't know”。 “how the world's operate”中“world's”是错误的所有格缩写,应为“how the world operates”。最后“some tough things, I don't like it”中指代不一致,应使用复数代词“them”。
× It depends on different situation when I read the something I never know. I prefer scanning but if I was studying I will definitely detail reading because umm knowledge something is very hard for me so I have to really slowly to understand.
✓ It depends on the situation. When I read something I don't know, I prefer scanning, but if I am studying I will definitely do detailed reading because some knowledge is very difficult for me, so I have to go really slowly to understand.
说明:“on different situation”需改为“on the situation”或“on the different situations”;“read the something”中不应使用定冠词“the”修饰不特指的“something”。“if I was studying I will”时态不一致,应为“if I am studying I will”或“if I were studying I would”。“detail reading”应为“detailed reading”或“read in detail”;“knowledge something”不合适,改为“some knowledge”。“really slowly to understand”语序不自然,应为“go really slowly to understand”。
