Part 1
Examiner
Do you prefer sad or happy music?
Candidate
I just in my in my own purple preference. I don't really have any specific preferences for happy or sad music. Although I can understand people who want to to experience different emotions through music as it's an art there isn't really wrong and right in music. Personally I do prefer happy music as I do prefer being influenced by more happiest, happier experiences than sad music.

Does happy music make you feel more excited?
Candidate
Definitely does, especially with the upbeat musics and different creators. And I feel like having music is very popular nowadays, especially compared to sad music, so I can understand that most people appeal to being happy and excited rather than other type of music. MMM.
Do you prefer sad or happy music?
Score: 58.0Suggestion: Be more concise and correct grammatical errors. Start with a clear topic sentence stating your preference, then give one or two specific reasons with a linking word. Avoid repetition and filler words. Use correct comparative/adjective forms (e.g., "happier experiences").
Example: I don't have a strict rule, but I generally prefer happy music. For example, upbeat songs lift my mood and help me stay energetic when I'm studying or exercising, so I usually choose them over sad songs.
Does happy music make you feel more excited?
Score: 54.0Suggestion: Give a direct answer first, then support it with a specific reason and an example. Correct nouns ("music" is uncountable) and avoid vague statements about popularity unless you add a concrete observation. Keep to two or three sentences maximum.
Example: Yes, it definitely does. Upbeat music with a fast tempo and strong rhythm makes me feel more energetic, for example when I listen to pop or dance tracks before a workout they boost my motivation and focus.
× I just in my in my own purple preference.
✓ I am just expressing my own preference.
The original sentence lacks a main verb and contains repeated and irrelevant words ('in my in my', 'purple') causing sentence structure problems (ID 26). Use a clear subject-verb phrase: 'I am just expressing my own preference.' This provides a verb 'am expressing' and removes redundancy and unrelated adjective. Suggestion: form sentences with a subject and a main verb and avoid repeated words.
× I don't really have any specific preferences for happy or sad music.
✓ I don't really have a strong preference for either happy or sad music.
The phrase 'any specific preferences for happy or sad music' is understandable but awkward; rewriting improves clarity (ID 26). Use 'a strong preference for either' to show choice between two options. Suggestion: use 'either' when comparing two alternatives and 'preference' as a countable/uncountable noun correctly.
× Although I can understand people who want to to experience different emotions through music as it's an art there isn't really wrong and right in music.
✓ Although I can understand people who want to experience different emotions through music, since it is an art, there isn't really a right or wrong in music.
Errors include a repeated word 'to to', run-on sentence, missing commas, and awkward phrase order (ID 26). Insert commas to separate clauses, remove duplicate 'to', use 'since it is an art' to connect ideas, and 'a right or wrong' rather than 'wrong and right'. Suggestion: avoid repeated words, punctuate clauses, and use natural collocations 'a right or wrong'.
× Personally I do prefer happy music as I do prefer being influenced by more happiest, happier experiences than sad music.
✓ Personally I prefer happy music because I like being influenced by happier experiences rather than sad ones.
The original uses incorrect comparative/superlative forms and redundant language ('more happiest, happier') and awkward structure (ID 13 and 25). Use 'happier' (comparative) not 'more happiest', drop redundant 'do prefer', and use 'sad ones' to avoid repeating 'music'. Suggestion: use one comparative form ('happier'), avoid doubling verbs ('do prefer'), and keep sentence concise.
× Definitely does, especially with the upbeat musics and different creators.
✓ Definitely; it does, especially with upbeat music and different creators.
The student replied fragmentedly 'Definitely does' without subject; add subject 'it' for clarity and correct noun form 'music' is uncountable so not 'musics' (ID 2 and 1). Use 'upbeat music' instead of 'the upbeat musics'. Suggestion: include subject in short answers and use uncountable noun forms for 'music'.
× And I feel like having music is very popular nowadays, especially compared to sad music, so I can understand that most people appeal to being happy and excited rather than other type of music.
✓ I feel like listening to music is very popular nowadays, especially upbeat music, so I can understand that most people prefer being happy and excited rather than listening to other types of music.
Problems: 'having music' is awkward, 'appeal to being' is incorrect verb choice, 'other type of music' should be plural 'other types of music' (ID 14 and 26). Use 'listening to music' and 'prefer' to express preference, and pluralize 'types'. Suggestion: choose correct verbs for expressing preference ('prefer') and ensure noun phrases match number ('types').
× MMM.
✓ (hesitation)
'MMM' is a non-grammatical hesitation marker; in formal transcription render as '(hesitation)' or omit (ID 26). Suggestion: use standard notations for nonverbal sounds in transcripts.
