Do you like taking pictures of different views?
Candidate
Yeah, it's definitely I think it help capture the moment and when I look back the photos that I take, pictures that I take of the different views are actually remember the experience. For example, when I travel to certain places, I will take some photos of the fields and because it's a the photo stays. Umm, forever. So I can, umm, to look back to place like travel and I can memorize all the memories there and I think that's a quite good experience.

Do you prefer views in urban areas or rural areas?
Candidate
Well, I think it depends. I do like the the many lights in the night in the urban area. For example, in Hong Kong, watching the fields in the Causeway Bay at night, it hits different because you can watch the whole Hong Kong lights and it's really pretty and but. In the other side, I do think rural area have their special places because the green spaces, the plants they freeze and the natural environment actually give me a hit.

Do you prefer views in your own country or in other countries?
Candidate
I prefer films in other countries because I think Hong Kong is a really, really crowded city and the building and the spaces, the spaces, the space for building is limited. But in the other country, for example USA or Australia or in China, there they can build a lot of artistic building where? I can embed it into the building and we can show the country's history. So I believe the other countries building and other things is better than our.
Do you like taking pictures of different views?
Score: 62.0Suggestion: Be more concise and use a clear topic sentence, then provide one or two specific supporting details with linking words. Reduce filler words (umm, uh) and correct basic grammar (e.g., tense and article use). Aim for 2–4 sentences: a direct answer + a specific example with a reason. Use phrases like “for example” or “because” to link ideas.
Example: Yes, I do. I like photographing views because photos help me remember the atmosphere of a place. For example, when I travel I take shots of landscapes and cityscapes so that later I can recall the trip’s colours and feelings.
Do you prefer views in urban areas or rural areas?
Score: 55.0Suggestion: Start with a clear direct answer (e.g., “It depends, but I slightly prefer…”), then give two contrasting reasons using linking words (however, on the other hand). Correct vocabulary (e.g., ‘fields’→‘skyline’ or ‘streets’; ‘they freeze’ unclear). Be specific: name one scene in each area and describe why you like it. Keep to 2–4 sentences.
Example: It depends, but I slightly prefer urban views for their night lights. For example, in Hong Kong the skyline and neon signs create a dramatic scene at night; however, I also enjoy rural views because the green fields and quiet nature feel peaceful.
Do you prefer views in your own country or in other countries?
Score: 58.0Suggestion: Give a direct answer first (“I prefer views in other countries”), then provide 1–2 clear reasons with specific examples. Correct vocabulary (films→views; repetitive phrases). Avoid vague statements like “better than our”; instead compare specific features (space, architecture, historic sites). Use linking words like “because” and “for example.”
Example: I prefer views in other countries because they often have more open space and varied architecture. For example, in Australia or the US you can find wide streets and distinctive public buildings, while Hong Kong’s dense skyline can feel crowded.
× Yeah, it's definitely I think it help capture the moment and when I look back the photos that I take, pictures that I take of the different views are actually remember the experience.
✓ Yeah, I definitely think it helps capture the moment, and when I look back at the photos I take of different views, they actually help me remember the experience.
Problems: incorrect word order and missing -s on the verb 'help' for third person singular; incorrect verb form 'remember' used without an auxiliary; missing preposition 'at' after 'look back'. Suggestions: place 'definitely' after 'I' for natural order; add -s to 'help' because the subject 'it' or the implied 'it helps' is third person singular; use 'they help me remember' so 'remember' is correctly used with 'help' plus object and infinitive meaning; include 'look back at' as the correct phrasal verb.
× For example, when I travel to certain places, I will take some photos of the fields and because it's a the photo stays.
✓ For example, when I travel to certain places, I will take photos of the fields because the photo stays.
Problems: extra 'a' before 'the photo' and awkward article usage 'the fields' may be acceptable but 'photos' plural is more natural; unnecessary 'some' can be omitted. Suggestions: remove the extra 'a' and simplify to 'take photos' and 'the photo stays' to make the sentence grammatical and fluent.
× Umm, forever. So I can, umm, to look back to place like travel and I can memorize all the memories there and I think that's a quite good experience.
✓ They last forever, so I can look back on places I have traveled to and remember all the memories; I think that's a really good experience.
Problems: fragment 'Umm, forever.'; incorrect 'to look back to place like travel' and wrong verb form 'memorize all the memories there'; awkward article 'a quite good'. Suggestions: combine fragments into a full sentence, use 'look back on' or 'look back at', use present perfect 'have traveled to' to refer to past trips with present relevance, use 'remember' instead of 'memorize' for natural phrasing, and use 'really' instead of 'a quite'.
× Well, I think it depends. I do like the the many lights in the night in the urban area.
✓ Well, I think it depends. I do like the many lights at night in urban areas.
Problems: duplicate 'the', incorrect preposition 'in the night' should be 'at night', and 'the urban area' is too specific; use plural 'urban areas' for general preference. Suggestions: remove the duplicate 'the', use 'at night', and generalize to 'urban areas'.
× For example, in Hong Kong, watching the fields in the Causeway Bay at night, it hits different because you can watch the whole Hong Kong lights and it's really pretty and but.
✓ For example, in Hong Kong, watching the lights in Causeway Bay at night feels different because you can see all of Hong Kong's lights; it's really pretty.
Problems: 'watching the fields' is likely wrong word choice; 'it hits different' is informal and ungrammatical here; awkward clause order and stray 'but'. Suggestions: replace 'fields' with 'lights', use 'feels different' for clarity, change 'watch' to 'see' and make possessive 'Hong Kong's lights', remove extraneous 'but'.
× In the other side, I do think rural area have their special places because the green spaces, the plants they freeze and the natural environment actually give me a hit.
✓ On the other hand, I do think rural areas have their special charms because the green spaces and plants are calming, and the natural environment actually affects me positively.
Problems: incorrect phrase 'In the other side' should be 'On the other hand'; singular/plural mismatch 'rural area have' should be 'rural areas have'; 'the plants they freeze' is ungrammatical and unclear; 'give me a hit' is incorrect idiom. Suggestions: use 'On the other hand', make nouns plural where generalizing, replace unclear verbs with 'are calming' or 'feel peaceful', and use 'affects me positively' or 'refreshes me' instead of 'give me a hit'.
× I prefer films in other countries because I think Hong Kong is a really, really crowded city and the building and the spaces, the spaces, the space for building is limited.
✓ I prefer views in other countries because I think Hong Kong is a really, really crowded city and the buildings and spaces for building are limited.
Problems: 'films' is likely a wrong word for 'views' and repeated 'the spaces'; singular/plural mismatch 'the building and the spaces...is limited' should be plural with 'are limited'. Suggestions: replace 'films' with 'views', remove repetition, and ensure subject and verb agree in number.
× But in the other country, for example USA or Australia or in China, there they can build a lot of artistic building where? I can embed it into the building and we can show the country's history.
✓ But in other countries, for example the USA, Australia, or China, they can build many artistic buildings where I can incorporate artwork into the buildings to show the country's history.
Problems: 'in the other country' should be 'in other countries'; inconsistent preposition use and article omission before 'USA'; 'a lot of artistic building' should be 'many artistic buildings'; 'embed it into the building' awkward. Suggestions: use plural 'countries', include 'the' before 'USA', use 'many buildings', and rephrase 'incorporate artwork into the buildings' for natural English.
× So I believe the other countries building and other things is better than our.
✓ So I believe the buildings and other things in other countries are better than ours.
Problems: word order 'the other countries building' should be 'buildings in other countries'; subject-verb agreement 'is' should be 'are'; 'our' should be possessive pronoun 'ours'. Suggestions: reorder phrase to 'buildings in other countries', use plural verb 'are', and use 'ours' to compare possessions.
