Part 1
Examiner
Do you prefer typing or handwriting?
Candidate
As in this advanced world, handwriting has been taken over by typing. Absolutely. And in this social era we all prefer typing I guess instead of handwriting, as it is very easy to write in seconds and it gives us more exposure.

Do you type on a desktop or laptop keyboard every day?
Candidate
Yes, I do type on a desktop keyboard every day. I have got one from the Dell company and I do typing to complete up my projects or sometimes applying to resumes. Or if nothing I have to do I just scroll some typing apps to increase my speed in typing.

When did you learn how to type on a keyboard?
Candidate
I reckon it was a grade 4 when I first time started learning typing on a keyboard. It was my IT teacher's lecture and she introduced us to the keyboard and all the alphabets on it and she also told us about all the symbols uh depicted in the keys of keyboard and it helped me a lot.

How do you improve your typing?
Candidate
Well as I previously mentioned I improve my typing by using few apps that are very much advanced and they are being algorithm with a different time zone and some nice prompts which help in increasing and typing very fast. Also I type on like social media.
Do you prefer typing or handwriting?
Score: 68.0Suggestion: Give a direct topic sentence, avoid vague phrases and redundancy, and support with one or two specific reasons using linking words. Keep it within 3–4 sentences and use clearer vocabulary (e.g., "faster," "more convenient").
Example: I prefer typing to handwriting because it is much faster and more convenient. For example, typing lets me edit and share documents quickly, which is important for school and work. Also, digital notes are easier to organize and search when I need information later.
Do you type on a desktop or laptop keyboard every day?
Score: 64.0Suggestion: Start with a clear statement, then give two specific details about when and why you type, using linking words to connect ideas. Avoid awkward phrasing and unnecessary brand mentions unless relevant. Use natural collocations ("type on a desktop/laptop" and "work on projects" or "apply for jobs").
Example: I type on a desktop keyboard every day because I use my computer for study and work. For instance, I type essays and prepare job applications, and when I have spare time I practise touch-typing with online apps to improve my speed.
When did you learn how to type on a keyboard?
Score: 72.0Suggestion: Begin with a concise time reference, then describe briefly how you learned using specific details and one linking phrase. Remove fillers ("uh," "I reckon") and correct grammar ("the first time").
Example: I learned to type when I was in fourth grade during an IT class. My teacher showed us the layout of the keys and explained important symbols, which helped me become comfortable with touch-typing.
How do you improve your typing?
Score: 60.0Suggestion: Answer directly, explain specific methods you use, and avoid unclear descriptions (e.g., "different time zone"). Use precise vocabulary to describe apps and practice routines, and link ideas logically. Limit to 2–3 concise sentences.
Example: I improve my typing by practising with online typing apps that offer timed exercises and accuracy drills. In addition, I write posts and messages on social media to practise typing under real conditions, which helps me type faster and more confidently.
× As in this advanced world, handwriting has been taken over by typing.
✓ In this advanced world, handwriting has been largely replaced by typing.
The original sentence is awkwardly phrased ('As in this advanced world') and 'has been taken over by' is less natural than 'has been replaced by.' Use 'In this advanced world' to introduce the context and 'largely replaced' to convey the general trend clearly.
× Absolutely.
✓ Yes, I prefer typing.
A one-word response 'Absolutely' does not directly answer the question. Provide a full sentence that states the preference to match the question and context.
× And in this social era we all prefer typing I guess instead of handwriting, as it is very easy to write in seconds and it gives us more exposure.
✓ In this social era, I think most people prefer typing to handwriting because it is quick and gives us wider exposure.
Use 'prefer ... to ...' (prefer A to B). 'I guess' is better as 'I think' in formal speech. 'Very easy to write in seconds' is awkward; 'quick' is clearer. 'Gives us more exposure' -> 'wider exposure' is more natural.
× Yes, I do type on a desktop keyboard every day.
✓ Yes, I type on a desktop keyboard every day.
The auxiliary 'do' is unnecessary in affirmative present simple statements; simply use 'I type.'
× I have got one from the Dell company and I do typing to complete up my projects or sometimes applying to resumes.
✓ I have one from Dell, and I type to complete my projects or to work on my résumé.
Use 'have one from Dell' not 'from the Dell company.' 'Do typing' should be 'type.' 'Complete up' is incorrect; use 'complete.' 'Applying to resumes' is incorrect use of 'apply'—use 'work on my résumé' or 'prepare my résumé.' Also use 'résumé' as the object with 'work on.'
× Or if nothing I have to do I just scroll some typing apps to increase my speed in typing.
✓ If I have nothing else to do, I just use typing apps to improve my speed.
The original word order 'Or if nothing I have to do' is incorrect; use 'If I have nothing else to do.' 'Scroll some typing apps' is unnatural—'use typing apps' is clearer. Avoid repeating 'in typing' after 'speed.'
× I reckon it was a grade 4 when I first time started learning typing on a keyboard.
✓ I reckon it was in grade 4 when I first started learning to type on a keyboard.
Use 'in grade 4' for school year. 'First time started' is redundant—use 'first started.' Use 'learning to type' rather than 'learning typing.'
× It was my IT teacher's lecture and she introduced us to the keyboard and all the alphabets on it and she also told us about all the symbols uh depicted in the keys of keyboard and it helped me a lot.
✓ It was during my IT teacher's lesson; she introduced us to the keyboard and the letters on it, explained the symbols on the keys, and that helped me a lot.
Use 'lesson' rather than 'lecture' for school class. 'All the alphabets' is incorrect—use 'the letters.' Simplify and connect clauses with commas and conjunctions. 'Symbols depicted in the keys of keyboard' should be 'symbols on the keys.' Break the run-on sentence into clearer parts.
× Well as I previously mentioned I improve my typing by using few apps that are very much advanced and they are being algorithm with a different time zone and some nice prompts which help in increasing and typing very fast.
✓ As I mentioned before, I improve my typing by using a few advanced apps that use different algorithms and offer timed exercises and prompts to help me type faster.
Use 'a few' not 'few' for countable plural with positive meaning. 'They are being algorithm with a different time zone' is ungrammatical; likely intended 'use different algorithms and timed exercises.' 'Help in increasing and typing very fast' should be 'help me type faster.' Use correct verb forms and noun phrases.
× Also I type on like social media.
✓ I also practice typing on social media.
'Type on like social media' is informal and ungrammatical. Use 'practice typing on social media' or 'type on social media' to convey the activity. Move 'also' to a natural position.
