Part 1
Examiner
Are there tall buildings near your home?
Candidate
Yes, there are quite a lot tall buildings near my home since I live in the city center. In my neighborhood there are several high rise apartments, 2 office buildings and also a hotel in a skyscraper. So I can see a lot of tall buildings from my window.
Examiner
Do you take photos of buildings?
Candidate
No, I don't usually take photos of buildings. I prefer to photograph people or natural scenery. I mean unless a building is very famous or unique otherwise I don't usually notice them and take photos of them.
Examiner
Is there a building that you would like to visit?
Candidate
Honestly, I'm not very fond of visiting architectures or tall buildings, so I can't think of any buildings that I would like to visit. I prefer to visit natural spots, like to hike in a mountain or to walk along the coastline of a sea.
Examiner
Do you want to live in a tall building?
Candidate
No, I don't want to live in a tall building because I'm really afraid of height, so it could be uncomfortable for me to live in a tall building. Plus I prefer to live closer to the nature, for example in a big house with a garden which is more peaceful and serene.
Are there tall buildings near your home?
建议:1) 修正语法,如用“quite a lot of tall buildings”;2) 开头用一个简洁的主题句,然后用一两句列举细节,不超过5句;3) 使用连接词(for example, such as)使信息更连贯。
Example: Yes. I live in the city center, so there are quite a lot of tall buildings near my home. For example, my neighborhood has several high-rise apartment blocks, two office towers and a skyscraper hotel, so I can see many tall buildings from my window.
Do you take photos of buildings?
Example: Not really. I usually prefer photographing people or natural scenery, unless a building is very famous or has a unique design, in which case I might take a photo.
Is there a building that you would like to visit?
Example: Not really. I'm not very interested in visiting architectural sites; I prefer natural places. For example, I enjoy hiking in the mountains or walking along the coastline, where I can relax and enjoy the scenery.
Do you want to live in a tall building?
Example: No, I wouldn't. I'm afraid of heights, so living in a high-rise would make me uncomfortable. Furthermore, I prefer being closer to nature — for instance, living in a large house with a garden is more peaceful and relaxing for me.
× Yes, there are quite a lot tall buildings near my home since I live in the city center.
✓ Yes, there are quite a lot of tall buildings near my home since I live in the city center.
因此应改为“quite a lot of tall buildings”。
× In my neighborhood there are several high rise apartments, 2 office buildings and also a hotel in a skyscraper.
✓ In my neighborhood there are several high-rise apartments, two office buildings and also a hotel in a skyscraper.
× No, I don't usually take photos of buildings. I prefer to photograph people or natural scenery. I mean unless a building is very famous or unique otherwise I don't usually notice them and take photos of them.
✓ No, I don't usually take photos of buildings. I prefer to photograph people or natural scenery. I mean, unless a building is very famous or unique, I don't usually notice it and take photos of it.
此外代词“them”指代单数“a building”不一致,应改为“it”。
× Honestly, I'm not very fond of visiting architectures or tall buildings, so I can't think of any buildings that I would like to visit.
✓ Honestly, I'm not very fond of visiting architecture or tall buildings, so I can't think of any buildings that I would like to visit.
× I prefer to visit natural spots, like to hike in a mountain or to walk along the coastline of a sea.
✓ I prefer visiting natural spots, like hiking in a mountain or walking along the coastline of the sea.
前半句中“prefer to visit”与后面并列结构不一致,英语中常用“prefer doing”或“prefer to do”,但在列举相似活动时使用动名词(-ing)更自然一致。惯用搭配为“hike in a mountain”可改为“hike in a mountain”或更自然的“hike in the mountains”;海岸线应为“the coastline of the sea”或更简洁“the coastline”。
× No, I don't want to live in a tall building because I'm really afraid of height, so it could be uncomfortable for me to live in a tall building.
✓ No, I don't want to live in a tall building because I'm really afraid of heights, so it could be uncomfortable for me to live in one.
“afraid of height”习惯说法为“afraid of heights”(复数)。
