Part 1
Examiner
Do you like reading?
Candidate
Yes I do like reading but occasionally I tend to listen more to the podcast and audiobooks as compared to reading But I have but I had read couple of self help books like how to influence people, how how to make.
Examiner
Do you prefer to read on paper or on a screen?
Candidate
I prefer to breed on paper rather than on screen because my eyes sometimes if you're reading on on the screen, you you see, I, I personally see more tired if I'm reading a long book on a screen rather than on page on paper. Umm, so I've read how to influence, how to make friends.
Examiner
When do you need to read carefully, and when not?
Candidate
Sometimes when you do not understand the context of as in whole, you have to read things carefully there. For example, if you are reading a novel and there is a very critical part that you need to understand in order to understand.
Examiner
Do you prefer scanning or detailed reading?
Candidate
It depends on the on the book as well. It depends on the context as well. Most of the times I prefer it to read in uh, I prefer to have detailed reading uh, but sometimes when there's not much uh, I can get from the readings, I'll just try to scam, uh, scan it and get just the over over.
Do you like reading?
Score: 60.0Suggestion: Be more concise and organized. Start with a clear topic sentence, then give one or two specific supporting details. Avoid repetition and filler words. Use linking words (however, recently, for example) to improve coherence and keep your answer to no more than 3–4 sentences.
Example: Yes, I enjoy reading, although recently I’ve listened to podcasts and audiobooks more often. For example, I’ve read a couple of self-help books such as How to Win Friends and Influence People. However, I still read print books when I want to study ideas in depth.
Do you prefer to read on paper or on a screen?
Score: 55.0Suggestion: Correct pronunciation errors and avoid repeating phrases. Give a direct topic sentence, state a clear reason, and include one specific example. Use a linking word (because, therefore) and keep it concise.
Example: I prefer reading on paper rather than on a screen because my eyes get tired after long screen reading. For example, when I read long books on my tablet I often feel eye strain, so I choose paper books for novels or study materials.
When do you need to read carefully, and when not?
Score: 65.0Suggestion: Provide a clearer topic sentence and expand with a precise example and linking words. Avoid vague phrasing like "as in whole"; instead say "the overall meaning." Give one or two specific situations when careful reading is necessary and when skimming is acceptable.
Example: You need to read carefully when the meaning is unclear or when a passage contains important plot or technical details. For example, if a novel has a pivotal chapter that explains the characters’ motives, I read it slowly to fully understand. By contrast, I skim background descriptions that are not essential to the plot.
Do you prefer scanning or detailed reading?
Score: 60.0Suggestion: Avoid hesitation and repetition; make a clear contrast using linking words (usually, however, sometimes). State your general preference, then give a specific example when you would scan instead of read in detail.
Example: Usually I prefer detailed reading because I like to understand ideas fully. However, when I’m researching or the material is repetitive, I scan to find only the key points. For example, I scan journal articles quickly to locate the results section rather than reading every page.
× Yes I do like reading but occasionally I tend to listen more to the podcast and audiobooks as compared to reading But I have but I had read couple of self help books like how to influence people, how how to make.
✓ Yes, I do like reading, but occasionally I tend to listen more to podcasts and audiobooks compared to reading. I have read a couple of self-help books like How to Win Friends and Influence People.
Errors: incorrect noun forms ('the podcast' -> 'podcasts'), missing articles ('a couple of self help books' -> 'a couple of self-help books'), repetition and tense confusion ('I have but I had read' -> 'I have read'). The main issue relates to incorrect verb/adjective forms and sentence structure when using present perfect ('have read'). Suggestion: use plural for general nouns, hyphenate compound adjectives, remove repeated words, and use present perfect for experiences that are relevant to now.
× I prefer to breed on paper rather than on screen because my eyes sometimes if you're reading on on the screen, you you see, I, I personally see more tired if I'm reading a long book on a screen rather than on page on paper.
✓ I prefer to read on paper rather than on a screen because my eyes sometimes get tired if I'm reading on a screen; I personally feel more tired reading a long book on a screen than on paper.
Errors: 'breed' is a wrong verb (should be 'read'), incorrect preposition/article use ('on screen' -> 'on a screen', 'on page on paper' -> 'on paper'), and awkward phrasing. The main grammar problems are incorrect prepositions/articles and verb choice. Suggestion: use 'on a screen' when referring to screens in general, use parallel structure ('more tired... than on paper'), and choose correct verb 'read'.
× Umm, so I've read how to influence, how to make friends.
✓ Umm, so I've read How to Win Friends and Influence People.
Error: awkward word order and incomplete title; use of present perfect 'I've read' is correct for experience, but the book title should be properly ordered and complete. Suggestion: use the correct book title and maintain present perfect for past experience still relevant now.
× Sometimes when you do not understand the context of as in whole, you have to read things carefully there.
✓ Sometimes, when you do not understand the overall context, you have to read carefully.
Errors: word order and extraneous words ('context of as in whole' is ungrammatical). This is a sentence structure problem. Suggestion: simplify to 'overall context' and use 'read carefully' rather than 'read things carefully there'.
× For example, if you are reading a novel and there is a very critical part that you need to understand in order to understand.
✓ For example, if you are reading a novel and there is a very important part that you need to understand to follow the story.
Error: sentence is incomplete and repeats 'understand.' This is sentence structure/redundancy. Suggestion: replace vague 'very critical part' with 'very important part' and complete the purpose clause ('to follow the story').
× It depends on the on the book as well.
✓ It depends on the book as well.
Error: repetition 'on the on the' and awkward phrasing. This is a present tense/simple present usage with redundancy. Suggestion: remove duplicate words and keep simple present 'depends.'
× It depends on the context as well.
✓ It depends on the context as well.
No grammatical change needed; sentence is correct in simple present. Included to show it's acceptable. Suggestion: keep as is.
× Most of the times I prefer it to read in uh, I prefer to have detailed reading uh, but sometimes when there's not much uh, I can get from the readings, I'll just try to scam, uh, scan it and get just the over over.
✓ Most of the time I prefer detailed reading, but sometimes when there is not much I can get from the text, I just scan it to get the overview.
Errors: 'Most of the times' should be 'Most of the time' (adverb/quantifier), awkward 'prefer it to read in' and wrong verb 'scam' instead of 'scan', and repetition 'over over'. This is incorrect use of adverbs/quantifiers and word choice. Suggestion: use 'most of the time,' 'prefer detailed reading,' and 'scan' plus 'overview' for clarity.
