Part 1
Examiner
Do you have a favourite teacher?
Candidate
Yes, I do. I guess everybody has his or her favorite teacher. When it comes to my favorite teacher, the one who springs to my mind is my English teacher back in Senior High School. She was patient, knowledgeable and strict. She helped me a lot.
Examiner
Are you still in touch with your primary school teacher?
Candidate
No, I'm not. Since I left the primary school I have lost all the contacts with my primary teachers. Although I still remember some of them. I never try to contact them and I don't go back to my school to see them.
Examiner
In what way did your favourite teacher help you?
Candidate
My favorite teacher is my English teacher in Senior High School. One way she often used to help me with my English was that she always advised me to read as much as possible. She recommended some English novels for me to read to improve my reading skills.
Examiner
Do you want to be a teacher in the future?
Candidate
Yes, I do. Actually. I am now working as a teacher, but I'm not teaching English now. I'm teaching history because history is also one of my favorite subjects in school.
Do you have a favourite teacher?
Score: 78.0Suggestion: 回答总体清晰但有改进空间:1) 开头句可更直接点明主题(例如“I do: my high school English teacher.”),避免“我想大家都有”类泛化句占用时间;2) 用更具体的例子说明老师如何“耐心、博学和严格”,增加回答的具体性与说服力;3) 控制句子数量和长度,保持在5句内并用连接词(for example, because, so)使逻辑更连贯。
Example: I do — my high school English teacher. She was patient and very knowledgeable; for example, she always explained difficult grammar with clear examples. Because she set high standards, I improved quickly and gained confidence in speaking.
Are you still in touch with your primary school teacher?
Score: 70.0Suggestion: 需要更自然、更连贯的表达:1) 把短句合并,避免断裂如“Although I still remember some of them.”独立出现;2) 给出具体原因或感受(为什么没有联系),能丰富内容并展示语言能力;3) 使用连接词(because, so, however)使回答更流畅。
Example: No, I'm not. I lost contact with my primary teachers after I left because I moved to another city, and I haven't returned to the school to visit. However, I still remember a few of them fondly.
In what way did your favourite teacher help you?
Score: 80.0Suggestion: 回答内容具体且相关,但可以更简洁并加入更多细节:1) 开头可以直接回答并省去重复身份信息;2) 说明具体书名或类型、阅读方法或结果(例如成绩或技能提升),提高具体性;3) 使用连接词(for instance, as a result)加强因果关系。
Example: She helped me mainly by encouraging extensive reading. For instance, she recommended graded English novels like simple classics and assigned short reports, and as a result my vocabulary and reading speed improved significantly.
Do you want to be a teacher in the future?
Score: 75.0Suggestion: 回答信息完整但表达可更自然:1) 避免句子碎片(如“Actually.”);2) 更流畅地连接目前状况与未来意愿,说明为什么愿意当老师或长期计划;3) 可加入短期目标或教学风格等具体细节。
Example: Yes. In fact I am already a teacher — I teach history rather than English because I love the subject. In the future I hope to continue teaching and possibly design interactive lessons to help students enjoy history.
× I guess everybody has his or her favorite teacher.
✓ I guess everybody has his or her favourite teacher.
原句在语法类别上属于“单数和复数问题”。此句本身在英文中使用“everybody”后可用单数代词“his or her”或更自然的性别中性代词“their”。句子本身并无数的错误,但美式拼写为“favorite”,英式为“favourite”,两者均可,若需统一英式/美式拼写请一致使用。建议:若想更自然、避免性别区分,可将“his or her”改为“their”(例如:"everybody has their favourite teacher")。
× She was patient, knowledgeable and strict.
✓ She was patient, knowledgeable, and strict.
原句为过去时描述,语法上正确。这里主要为标点(逗号)风格问题,而非时态错误。若按题目要求仅改正列出的语法问题,本句无需时态更改。为提高可读性,建议在第三项前加逗号(牛津逗号),但这不是语法必需。
× Since I left the primary school I have lost all the contacts with my primary teachers.
✓ Since I left primary school, I have lost all contact with my primary teachers.
原句中时态搭配不当和名词使用问题。句首“Since I left primary school”使用过去时(left)引导的时间状语与现在完成时(have lost)可以并存,但表达更自然的是保留现在完成时来强调从过去到现在的状态。更重要的是“contacts”在此处应使用不可数名词短语“contact”表示“一切联系”;并且“the primary school”通常应省略定冠词,除非指特定学校。建议:去掉“the”,将“contacts”改为“contact”,并在从句后加逗号以分隔。
× Although I still remember some of them.
✓ Although I still remember some of them, I never try to contact them.
原句为不完整句(从属连词although引导的让步状语从句需要主句),属于句子结构错误。原对话后面已有主句“ I never try to contact them”但在原文中被独立成句,理应与之合并或让步从句后接主句。建议将其与主句合并成完整句,或改为独立的陈述句如“I still remember some of them.”
× I never try to contact them and I don't go back to my school to see them.
✓ I never try to contact them and I don't go back to my school to see them.
此句中时态使用与语境(过去离开后至今未联系)不符。应使用现在完成时或过去时以与先前提到的“Since I left…”保持一致。更自然的说法是“I have never tried to contact them and I haven't gone back to my school to see them.”但按规则仅改正列出的语法类型(第5或第6项),这里应归为“Past tense issue/Present tense issue”。为了与语境一致,建议使用现在完成时:"I have never tried to contact them, and I haven't gone back to my school to see them."(解释为:强调从过去到现在的持续状态)。
× One way she often used to help me with my English was that she always advised me to read as much as possible.
✓ One way she often used to help me with my English was that she always advised me to read as much as possible.
句子在语法上基本正确,但“One way ... was that she always advised me to read...”结构略显冗长。可用更自然的表达:"One way she often helped me with my English was advising me to read as much as possible." 这里涉及“动词+ing形式”用作名词短语(advising)比从句更简洁。建议使用动名词结构使句子更流畅。
× She recommended some English novels for me to read to improve my reading skills.
✓ She recommended some English novels for me to read to improve my reading skills.
原句语法正确。仅需注意“recommended ... for me to read”可以改为更自然的“recommended some English novels for me”或“recommended that I read some English novels”。若认为为介词使用问题,可改为"She recommended that I read some English novels to improve my reading skills.",更符合正式写作习惯。
× Yes, I do. Actually. I am now working as a teacher, but I'm not teaching English now.
✓ Yes, I do. Actually, I am now working as a teacher, but I'm not teaching English now.
原句中“Actually.”为不完整句,应与后句连成完整句,属于句子结构错误。将短句与后文合并并用逗号连接更符合书写规范。此外句中两次使用“now”有冗余,建议去掉一个"now"以避免重复:"Actually, I am working as a teacher, but I'm not teaching English."
× I'm teaching history because history is also one of my favorite subjects in school.
✓ I'm teaching history because history is also one of my favourite subjects at school.
句子基本正确,但“in school”在这里更自然的表达为“at school”。另外拼写可按英式改为“favourite”。这属于形容词/副词使用与搭配问题(地点短语搭配)。建议将“in school”改为“at school”以符合习惯用法:"...one of my favourite subjects at school."
