Do you think bikes are popular in your country?
Candidate
Well, in the past in China, uh, bikes are used as the primary transportation way because in previous days in the past people do not have cars. So bikes are very popular in China. But nowadays we, we use car more so car. So bicycles are not that primary transportation way.
Did you have a bike when you were a child?
具体建议: 1) 将“do have”改为“had”; 2) 删除重复词(如两个“my”和重复的“I”); 3) 用一两个连接词(e.g. and, because, so)把句子连起来; 4) 控制在最多5句内,信息明确且具体。
Example: Yes, I had a bike when I was a child. My father bought me a pink bike when I was about eight, and I loved it because it was easy to ride. I used to cycle to the park every weekend, often with my friends, which made those days really fun. Because I enjoyed it so much, I still like cycling now.
Do you think bikes are popular in your country?
此外,注意单数/复数和固定搭配(use cars, not use car; primary means of transport)。 具体建议: 1) 用连贯的过渡词引出对比(e.g. In the past... However, nowadays...); 2) 简化重复词(删除多余的“in the past”或“we, we”); 3) 提供一两个具体原因或例子支持观点(如城市化、经济发展、shared bikes)。
Example: In the past, bicycles were the primary means of transport in China because most families could not afford cars. However, nowadays many people own cars and public transport has improved, so bikes are less common for daily commuting. That said, cycling is still popular for leisure and short trips, and shared bike programs have recently increased their visibility in cities.
× I do have a bike.
✓ I had a bike.
建议把现在时“I do have”改为过去时“I had”。
× When I was young I used to have a bike that my my father just bought it for me when I was young and it's a pink bike.
✓ When I was young I used to have a pink bike that my father bought for me.
句中存在多处过去时使用和冗余问题:1) “used to have”已经表明过去习惯,不能再用“just bought it for me when I was young”这样的混合表达;2) “my my”重复;3) “just bought it”若强调过去发生可用“bought”;4) “it's a pink bike”时态不一致,应改为过去时并合并形容词位置。
× I use a bike to go cycling every weekends.
✓ I used a bike to go cycling every weekend.
× I really like I I really enjoy go cycling.
✓ I really liked it. I really enjoyed going cycling.
× Well, in the past in China, uh, bikes are used as the primary transportation way because in previous days in the past people do not have cars.
✓ Well, in the past in China, bikes were used as the primary means of transportation because people did not have cars then.
句中时态混杂与词语搭配问题:描述过去应使用过去时“were used”和“did not have”;“transportation way”搭配不地道,应改为“means of transportation”;删除多余的“in the past/in previous days”。
× So bikes are very popular in China.
✓ So bikes were very popular in China.
× But nowadays we, we use car more so car.
✓ But nowadays we use cars more.
× So bicycles are not that primary transportation way.
✓ So bicycles are not the primary means of transportation anymore.
时态与搭配问题:描述现在情况用现在时“are not”;“that primary transportation way”表达不自然,改为“the primary means of transportation”;若强调变化加“anymore”。
