Part 1
Examiner
Do you use headphones?
Candidate
To be honest, I seldom use headphones and the main reason why is because I find it hard to lean against windows and buses when I'm trying to take a nap. I prefer Airpods or earphones because it's easier to lie down in places with them. However, I do agree that the sound quality isn't as good with them and they are more noise cancel.

What type of headphones do you use?
Candidate
I use the over ear noise cancelling headphones. I actually have two headphones, one from Apple, the Airpod Maxes and one from Bose. I alternate between the two but I prefer using my Bose ones because they're more durable and noise cancelling and they're just all together better for gym or when I wanna walk or run.
Examiner
When would you use headphones?
Candidate
I would personally use headphones when I'm trying to workout in the gym because they are noise cancelling and I can focus on just my music and the workout. But I also use it on an academic level umm when I'm trying to study because of the same effect of noise cancellation. I'm able to focus on just my work and not hear any background noise.

In what conditions would you not use headphones?
Candidate
I prefer not to use headphones when I'm going out and bringing a small handbag, solely because they are very big and take up a lot of space in my tiny bag, Umm. However, I also prefer not to use headphones when I'm sitting in a vehicle, a moving vehicle, because I like to sleep when I'm in a vehicle and it's not very practical to do so with headphones.
Examiner
Is wearing headphones comfortable?
Candidate
I think it depends on the kind of headphones. For example my over ear headphones are very comfortable because they sit around my ears and I think because of this the noise cancellation effect is also stronger. However, the on ear headphones I find a lot less comfortable because they can shift off the ear very easily and I find that noise cancellation is less strong.
Do you use headphones?
Score: 78.0Suggestion: Réduisez la longueur des réponses et corrigez les imprécisions lexicales; structurez par une phrase directe puis 1-2 détails précis. Évitez des affirmations inexactes comme "they are more noise cancel" et utilisez plutôt "they have better noise cancellation". Variez le vocabulaire (e.g. "sleep on public transport", "portable earphones").
Example: To be honest, I seldom use headphones because I find them uncomfortable when I want to nap on a bus or by a window. Instead, I prefer AirPods or small earphones because they are more portable and allow me to lie down. However, their sound quality and noise cancellation are usually not as good as over-ear models.
What type of headphones do you use?
Score: 82.0Suggestion: Commencez par une réponse claire et concise, puis donnez 1-2 raisons précises en évitant le langage familier comme "wanna". Utilisez des mots plus précis: "durable", "suitable for exercise", "effective noise cancellation". Faites attention à la répétition de "noise cancelling".
Example: I mainly use over-ear, noise-cancelling headphones. I own two pairs — AirPods Max from Apple and a pair from Bose — but I prefer the Bose for workouts because they feel more durable, provide better noise isolation, and stay comfortable during running.
When would you use headphones?
Score: 80.0Suggestion: Évitez les hésitations orales («umm») et structurez la réponse: phrase principale + 1-2 exemples concrets. Expliquez l'effet précis (e.g. "reduce distractions", "improve concentration") et variez le vocabulaire pour éviter répétitions de "noise cancelling".
Example: I usually use headphones at the gym to block out distractions and concentrate on my music and training. I also wear them when studying at the library because they help reduce background noise and improve my focus.
In what conditions would you not use headphones?
Score: 76.0Suggestion: Répondez directement puis donnez deux raisons claires et concises; évitez les répétitions et les hésitations. Remplacez "they are very big" par des formulations précises comme "over-ear models are bulky" et clarifiez la deuxième raison (e.g. "they make sleeping awkward").
Example: I usually avoid over-ear headphones when I have a small handbag because they are bulky and take up too much space. I also avoid them on long bus or train rides because they make it awkward to sleep comfortably.
Is wearing headphones comfortable?
Score: 84.0Suggestion: Commencez par une phrase directe, puis comparez brièvement deux types avec specificité. Evitez formulations vagues comme "a lot less comfortable"; préférez "less stable" ou "cause pressure". Ajoutez a brief example of when each is preferable.
Example: It depends on the design: over-ear headphones are very comfortable for long use because they cushion the ears and provide stronger noise isolation. On-ear models feel less stable and can press on the ears, so I only use them for short commutes.
× To be honest, I seldom use headphones and the main reason why is because I find it hard to lean against windows and buses when I'm trying to take a nap.
✓ To be honest, I seldom use headphones and the main reason is that I find it hard to lean against windows and bus seats when I'm trying to take a nap.
The phrase 'the main reason why is because' is redundant and awkward; use 'the main reason is that'. Also 'buses' as a general location is better specified as 'bus seats' for clarity. Suggestion: simplify causal phrases and choose precise nouns. Grammar problem type ID: 10
× I prefer Airpods or earphones because it's easier to lie down in places with them.
✓ I prefer AirPods or earphones because it's easier to lie down in places when I have them.
'It's easier to lie down in places with them' is awkward; 'when I have them' clarifies possession and reads more naturally. Also 'AirPods' capitalization standardized. Suggestion: use clearer noun phrases and correct brand capitalization. Grammar problem type ID: 13
× However, I do agree that the sound quality isn't as good with them and they are more noise cancel.
✓ However, I agree that the sound quality isn't as good with them and they are less noise-cancelling.
'More noise cancel' is ungrammatical: use an adjective form like 'noise-cancelling' and indicate lesser capability with 'less'. Suggestion: use correct adjective forms and comparative words. Grammar problem type ID: 13
× I use the over ear noise cancelling headphones.
✓ I use over-ear noise-cancelling headphones.
Compound adjectives modifying a noun should be hyphenated: 'over-ear' and 'noise-cancelling'. Also omit the article 'the' unless speaking about specific headphones previously mentioned. Suggestion: use hyphens for compound adjectives and correct article use. Grammar problem type ID: 13
× I actually have two headphones, one from Apple, the Airpod Maxes and one from Bose.
✓ I actually have two pairs of headphones: one from Apple, the AirPods Max, and one from Bose.
'Two headphones' is unnatural; use 'two pairs of headphones'. Also correct product name to 'AirPods Max' and use punctuation to separate items. Suggestion: use 'pair(s) of' with plural items and correct product names. Grammar problem type ID: 1},{
