Part 1
Examiner
Do you write a lot?
Candidate
Yes, I write a lot on a daily basis, both for my study and my mental health. For example, all of my school projects require me to have clear, logical thinking, so I need to sort things out before I start working on them by writing. And I enjoy keeping a daily journal to untangle my thoughts.
Examiner
What do you like to write? Why?
Candidate
I enjoy writing journals, sometimes handwritten, sometimes digital, to untangle my thoughts and manage stress, which helps me to stay focused and productive. For example, if I have an argument with my boyfriend, I can pour my negative emotions into my journal instead of ruminating while I'm doing something else.
Examiner
Do you think the things you write would change?
Candidate
Well, if you mean the content I keep in my journal, I don't think that'll change much because journaling is a personal habit. However, the types of writing I too would probably shift if I pursue further education. For instance, I'd have to write more academic essays and research papers for coursework, which require formal structure.
Examiner
Do you prefer typing or handwriting when you are writing?
Candidate
I mainly prefer typing because I use digital devices for most everyday tasks, so it's quicker and more convenient to take notes on my laptop or my phone. However, when I keep a personal journal, I favor handwriting, as writing with a pen feels more intimate and helps me think more clearly.
Examiner
How often do you keep diaries?
Candidate
I've been writing a diary around 3 to 4 times a week, although I've been aiming to write down a journal every single day, but it has been challenging to achieve as my work is extremely demanding. However, I'm aware of the benefits of writing journals so I quit being perfectionist and settled with how frequently I'm writing a journal now.
Examiner
What other methods do you use to record your life?
Candidate
I often use my phone to film my day and I find it is is a creative and fun way to giving a video journal. Nowadays on social media more and more celebrities are making a week or a day vlog so this has been becoming more socially acceptable.
Do you write a lot?
Example: Yes, I write a lot every day. Mainly I write for my studies to organize ideas and for personal reasons like keeping a journal. For example, before starting a project I write outlines to make my thinking clear, so I can work more efficiently.
What do you like to write? Why?
Example: I like writing journals, both handwritten and digital, because it helps me process emotions and stay focused. For example, after an argument with my boyfriend I write down my feelings, which stops me from ruminating and helps me calm down.
Do you think the things you write would change?
但存在小语法和措辞问题(如“I too would probably shift”应为“My writing would probably shift”),并有口语填充词“Well”。
Example: If you mean my journal entries, I don't think they will change much because journaling is personal. However, my writing style would change if I study further; for example, I would write more academic essays and research papers that need a formal structure.
Do you prefer typing or handwriting when you are writing?
Example: I generally prefer typing because it's faster and more convenient on my laptop or phone. But for a personal journal I favor handwriting, since writing with a pen feels more intimate and helps me think more clearly.
How often do you keep diaries?
存在语法小错误(如“quit being perfectionist”应为“quit being a perfectionist”)。
Example: I write in my diary about three or four times a week, although I try to write every day. Because work is demanding, daily entries are difficult, so I stopped being a perfectionist and accepted my current routine.
What other methods do you use to record your life?
Score: 78.0Suggestion: 想法好,有时态与重复问题(“is is”,以及“to giving”错误),语言不够简练且重复“vlog/ video journal”概念。
Example: I often film parts of my day on my phone to create a video journal, which is a creative and fun way to record memories. For example, I sometimes edit short clips into a weekly vlog to share with my family.
× However, the types of writing I too would probably shift if I pursue further education.
✓ However, the types of writing I do would probably shift if I pursue further education.
× I often use my phone to film my day and I find it is is a creative and fun way to giving a video journal.
✓ I often use my phone to film my day and I find it is a creative and fun way of giving a video journal. (更自然的表达:...a creative and fun way to keep a video journal.)
原句存在两个问题:一是“is is”重复,二是短语“way to giving”结构错误。短语“way”后面常接不定式(to do)或介词短语(of doing),因此应改为“way of giving”或更自然地用“way to keep”。
× For example, all of my school projects require me to have clear, logical thinking, so I need to sort things out before I start working on them by writing.
✓ For example, all of my school projects require me to have clear, logical thinking, so I need to sort things out before I start working on them by writing. (更自然的表达:...so I need to sort things out by writing before I start working on them.)
× If I have an argument with my boyfriend, I can pour my negative emotions into my journal instead of ruminating while I'm doing something else.
✓ If I have an argument with my boyfriend, I can pour my negative emotions into my journal instead of ruminating while doing something else.
原句中“while I'm doing something else”并非严重错误,但在此类通用表述中,使用非限制性进行时“while doing something else”更简洁常见。
× I've been writing a diary around 3 to 4 times a week, although I've been aiming to write down a journal every single day, but it has been challenging to achieve as my work is extremely demanding.
✓ I've been writing in a diary around 3 to 4 times a week, although I've been aiming to write in a journal every single day; it has been challenging to achieve because my work is extremely demanding.
原句中“writing a diary / write down a journal”搭配不当。英语中常说“write in a diary / keep a journal”,而不是“write a diary”或“write down a journal”。
× However, I'm aware of the benefits of writing journals so I quit being perfectionist and settled with how frequently I'm writing a journal now.
✓ However, I'm aware of the benefits of keeping a journal, so I stopped being a perfectionist and settled for how frequently I'm writing a journal now. (更自然:...so I stopped being a perfectionist and accepted the frequency with which I write.)
原句中有几处错误:1) “writing journals”更自然表达为“keeping a journal”;2) “quit being perfectionist”应为“quit/stop being a perfectionist”(缺冠词);3) “settled with”用法不当,常用搭配是“settled for”或“settled on”。
× Nowadays on social media more and more celebrities are making a week or a day vlog so this has been becoming more socially acceptable.
✓ Nowadays on social media more and more celebrities are making weekly or daily vlogs, so this has become more socially acceptable.
1) “a week or a day vlog”应改为“weekly or daily vlogs”;2) “has been becoming”时态不自然,改用“has become”或“is becoming”。
