Conversation

Part 1

Examiner

Do you write a lot?

Candidate

Ever since I left school, I haven't had the chance to write a lot of things in my daily life. But sometimes if I'm feeling really confused or down, I might write something. I might write a little diary to express myself.

Examiner

What do you like to write? Why?

Candidate

I normally just like to write down my feelings, especially when I'm feeling confused, for example about my job, about my future or I'm having an argument with my boyfriend. I tend to write down how this happened and analyze my thoughts so that I will know what's the problem of my bad mood.

Examiner

Do you think the things you write would change?

Candidate

Well, like I said, I don't normally do some creative writing, uh, writing. For me, it's only a way to help me release stress and express my emotions. So the things I write would definitely change according to what stage I am at in my life right now.

Examiner

Do you prefer typing or handwriting when you are writing?

Candidate

If I'm writing for work, I would definitely prefer typing because it's much more efficient. But if I'm writing only to umm, express my feelings as my own personal umm, way of relieve stress, I would prefer handwriting.

Examiner

How often do you keep diaries?

Candidate

I only write down my feelings in a diary when I'm feeling confused or sad. For example when I want to look for a new job or I have an argument with someone close to me. So that depends on when those things happens. I say maybe once or twice a year.

Examiner

What other methods do you use to record your life?

Candidate

Taking photos and video logs are definitely important methods for me to record my life. I especially enjoy traveling, so I go traveling abroad maybe three to four times a year and during these trips I will take loads of pictures and then stored it in my on my phone or computer so that I can relieve.

Grammar

Singular and plural issue

× I haven't had the chance to write a lot of things in my daily life.

I haven't had the chance to write many things in my daily life.

The phrase 'a lot of things' is acceptable but 'many things' is more appropriate when referring to countable items in negative sentences. Using 'many' fits better with the negative context here.

Incorrect use of prepositions

× I normally just like to write down my feelings, especially when I'm feeling confused, for example about my job, about my future or I'm having an argument with my boyfriend.

I normally just like to write down my feelings, especially when I'm feeling confused, for example about my job, about my future, or when I'm having an argument with my boyfriend.

The sentence lacks parallel structure. The phrase 'or I'm having an argument' should be 'or when I'm having an argument' to maintain parallelism with the previous clauses starting with 'when'.

Incorrect use of pronouns

× I tend to write down how this happened and analyze my thoughts so that I will know what's the problem of my bad mood.

I tend to write down how this happened and analyze my thoughts so that I will know what the problem with my bad mood is.

The phrase 'what's the problem of my bad mood' is incorrect. It should be 'what the problem with my bad mood is' to correctly express the issue and maintain proper sentence structure.

Incorrect use of prepositions

× I only write down my feelings in a diary when I'm feeling confused or sad. For example when I want to look for a new job or I have an argument with someone close to me. So that depends on when those things happens.

I only write down my feelings in a diary when I'm feeling confused or sad. For example, when I want to look for a new job or have an argument with someone close to me. So that depends on when those things happen.

The verb 'happens' should be plural 'happen' to agree with the plural subject 'those things'. Also, the sentence 'For example when I want to look for a new job or I have an argument...' is better without repeating 'I' before 'have an argument' for smoother flow.

Singular and plural issue

× Taking photos and video logs are definitely important methods for me to record my life.

Taking photos and video logs is definitely an important method for me to record my life.

The subject 'Taking photos and video logs' is considered a single combined activity here, so the verb should be singular 'is'. Also, 'methods' should be singular 'method' to match the singular verb.

Past tense issue

× I go traveling abroad maybe three to four times a year and during these trips I will take loads of pictures and then stored it in my on my phone or computer so that I can relieve.

I go traveling abroad maybe three to four times a year and during these trips I take loads of pictures and then store them on my phone or computer so that I can relieve stress.

The verb 'stored' is incorrectly in past tense; it should be present tense 'store' to match the present habitual action. Also, 'it' should be 'them' to refer to 'loads of pictures' (plural). The phrase 'in my on my phone' is incorrect; it should be 'on my phone'. The sentence ends abruptly; adding 'stress' clarifies the meaning.
