Why do most children have difficulties waiting for a long time?

Lack of Patience
Most children find it hard to wait because they're just naturally less patient. They have shorter attention spans, so sitting still and waiting feels really tough for them. Plus, they're still learning about delaying gratification. They want things now, not later, which makes waiting a real challenge.
Children generally struggle with long waits due to their inherent lack of patience. Their attention spans are naturally shorter, making prolonged periods of waiting feel especially arduous. Moreover, the concept of delayed gratification is something they are still coming to grips with. The preference for immediate satisfaction over future rewards is a developmental trait, making the act of waiting seem almost unbearable for them.

Lack of Understanding
This issue is common with young kids, and it's understandable. They prefer doing things right away instead of just waiting. I once read that little kids can't really think about the future. So, when parents say they have to wait until tomorrow, the kids get upset because to them, tomorrow seems really far away. I think this inability to understand time might be why waiting is hard for them, which makes sense.
This is a problem for younger children and it's understandable. They want to be doing things in the present, not standing still and waiting. I read an article about how young children aren't able to conceptualize the future and so when parents tell their children that they'll have to wait until tomorrow, they have a meltdown as tomorrow sounds like years in the future to them. I suppose a lot of the problems with waiting stem from this and it kind of makes sense.
現在分詞作狀語:"doing things in the present, not standing still and waiting" 中的 "doing" 和 "standing" 作為現在分詞狀語,增加了句子的複雜性和動態感。 賓語從句:"when parents tell their children that they'll have to wait until tomorrow" 這裡使用了賓語從句來引出孩子們的反應,使得句子結構更加複雜且含義更加豐富。 I suppose a lot of the problems with waiting stem from this" 中的 "I suppose" 表示作者對信息的推測,展示了能夠運用不同的語氣來表達觀點。

  • conceptualize the future

  • have a meltdown

  • stem from

Developmental Stage
Kids have a tough time waiting because their brains aren't fully developed for long waits. They just can't grasp the concept of time like adults. Their understanding of time is still growing, so waiting a few minutes can feel like forever to them. It's all part of growing up.
Children often struggle with waiting due to their developmental stage. At this point in their growth, their brains aren't quite equipped to handle prolonged periods of waiting. Moreover, their perception of time is still evolving; what seems like a brief interval to an adult may feel like an eternity to a child. This inability to fully comprehend and manage the concept of time is a natural aspect of their developmental journey.
