Do you prefer typing or handwriting?

Thí sinh

It depends on what it's for. I prefer typing in almost every scenario, but then when it comes to writing letters for my friends, either for their birthdays or just writing letters in general, I prefer to do it by hand because I think it's more meaningful that way. But I'm also very slow at handwriting so typing is just faster and easier.

Do you type on a desktop or laptop keyboard every day?

Thí sinh

I type on a laptop keyboard just because I don't have a desktop. And it's honestly I've, I've been typing since I was, I'd say 10 years old. And so I've kind of mastered how to type fast sometimes even without looking at the keyboard. And so I just find it very easy. I don't type on a desktop at all because I don't have one.

When did you learn how to type on a keyboard?

Thí sinh

I learned how to type on the keyboard when I was 10 because that's when our school introduced Chromebooks. And also I joined an after school activity called touch typing, which is when you learn how to type on keyboards without looking down at the keyboard. And so now I get my work done a lot faster and more efficiently because I don't have to constantly keep looking down at the keyboard.

How do you improve your typing?

Thí sinh

I haven't done anything in particular to improve my typing because of the touch typing class I did when I was 10, but I guess just the constant, umm, exposure that I that I gain every day to the laptops helps because I'm typing every day and the more you do something the better you get.

Part 1

Do you prefer typing or handwriting?

Ví dụ: I usually prefer typing because it’s faster and more convenient. However, I handwrite greetings and birthday cards for close friends because it feels more personal. For everyday tasks like emails or essays, typing saves time. Overall, I choose handwriting only for special, sentimental messages.

Do you type on a desktop or laptop keyboard every day?

Điểm: 76.0

Gợi ý: Bonne réponse mais un peu redondante et avec hésitations (répétitions de «I» et «And so»). Pour améliorer : 1) Ouvrez par une réponse claire et concise (topic sentence). 2) Évitez répétitions en combinant informations similaires (âge d'apprentissage et raison). 3) Utilisez un linking word pour expliquer la conséquence (par exemple «therefore»). 4) Limitez à 3–4 phrases pour rester naturelle.

Ví dụ: I use a laptop keyboard every day because I don't own a desktop. I started learning to type at around ten, so I’m now quite fast and can often touch-type without looking. Therefore, using a laptop feels easy and efficient for me.

When did you learn how to type on a keyboard?

Điểm: 88.0

Gợi ý: Très bonne structure et détails précis (âge, contexte scolaire, activité périscolaire). Pour améliorer davantage : 1) Remplacez quelques «and» répétés par des connecteurs variés («since», «as a result»). 2) Raccourcissez légèrement pour respecter la limite de phrases (max 5). 3) Ajoutez un exemple concret de bénéfice (par ex. «I make fewer typos»).

Ví dụ: I learned to type at ten when my school introduced Chromebooks and I joined a touch-typing club. Since I practised regularly, I can type without looking at the keys. As a result, I finish assignments faster and make fewer typos.

How do you improve your typing?

Điểm: 70.0

Gợi ý: Réponse honnête mais informelle et hésitante, avec répétitions et remplir de discours («umm», répétitions «that I that I»). Pour améliorer : 1) Enlevez hésitations et reformulez pour être plus sûre («I haven't done formal practice recently»). 2) Donnez un exemple concret d'amélioration («I practise with online typing tests» ou «I correct mistakes by reviewing my essays»). 3) Structurez en deux phrases maximum : état actuel + méthode (exposition quotidienne ou pratique ciblée).

Ví dụ: I haven't done formal training since the touch-typing class at ten, but daily use of a laptop has improved my speed. Lately, I practise occasionally with online typing tests to maintain accuracy and speed.

Ngữ pháp

Verb in the present participle form

× I prefer typing in almost every scenario, but then when it comes to writing letters for my friends, either for their birthdays or just writing letters in general, I prefer to do it by hand because I think it's more meaningful that way.

I prefer typing in almost every scenario, but when it comes to writing letters for my friends, either for their birthdays or just in general, I prefer to do it by hand because I think it is more meaningful that way.

The phrase "just writing letters in general" is awkward and uses a redundant verb form; replace with the noun phrase "just in general" for clarity and smoother noun phrase coordination. Also replace the contraction "it's" with "it is" for slightly more formal register. Suggestion: use parallel noun phrases and avoid unnecessary gerunds when a noun phrase suffices. Grammar problem type ID: 10

Incorrect use of pronouns

× And it's honestly I've, I've been typing since I was, I'd say 10 years old.

Honestly, I have been typing since I was, I'd say, 10 years old.

The original has disfluent filler and incorrect placement of the dummy subject "it's" which breaks sentence flow. Remove the unnecessary "it's" and place the adverb "honestly" at the start, then use the correct present perfect "I have been typing". Also add commas around the parenthetical "I'd say". Suggestion: avoid extra dummy subjects and keep auxiliaries adjacent to the subject. Grammar problem type ID:12

Incorrect adverb placement

× And so I've kind of mastered how to type fast sometimes even without looking at the keyboard.

So I've kind of mastered how to type fast, sometimes even without looking at the keyboard.

The adverb "sometimes" is misplaced, making the sentence awkward. Place "sometimes" after a comma to modify the whole clause "even without looking at the keyboard" or immediately before the verb it modifies. Suggestion: position adverbs close to the element they modify and add a comma for clarity. Grammar problem type ID:20

Incorrect use of prepositions

× I learned how to type on the keyboard when I was 10 because that's when our school introduced Chromebooks.

I learned how to type on the keyboard when I was 10 because that was when our school introduced Chromebooks.

Using "that's when" with a past-time reference is colloquial; grammatically it is better to match past tense with "that was when". Suggestion: ensure tense agreement in time adverbial clauses. Grammar problem type ID:11

Verb + -ing form

× And also I joined an after school activity called touch typing, which is when you learn how to type on keyboards without looking down at the keyboard.

I also joined an after-school activity called touch typing, which is where you learn how to type on a keyboard without looking down at it.

Use of "which is when" is inappropriate for describing the nature of an activity; "which is where" or "in which" is better. Also use singular "a keyboard" and replace repetitive "the keyboard" with pronoun "it". Use hyphen in "after-school" as a compound modifier. Suggestion: match relative clause introducer to the noun being described and avoid repetition. Grammar problem type ID:8

Present tense issue

× And so now I get my work done a lot faster and more efficiently because I don't have to constantly keep looking down at the keyboard.

Now I get my work done much faster and more efficiently because I do not have to keep looking down at the keyboard constantly.

The original uses "constantly keep looking" which is redundant; streamline to "keep looking... constantly". Replace contraction for clarity. Also prefer "much faster" over "a lot faster" in formal speech. Suggestion: avoid redundant adverb-verb combinations and place adverbs where they read naturally. Grammar problem type ID:6

Sentence structure errors

× I haven't done anything in particular to improve my typing because of the touch typing class I did when I was 10, but I guess just the constant, umm, exposure that I that I gain every day to the laptops helps because I'm typing every day and the more you do something the better you get.

I haven't done anything specific to improve my typing since the touch typing class I took when I was 10, but I suppose the constant exposure to laptops I get every day helps, because I type every day and the more you do something, the better you become.

Multiple issues: "because of the touch typing class I did" is awkward — use "since" and "the class I took". Remove fillers "umm" and repeated "that I that I". "Exposure to the laptops" should be "exposure to laptops" and tense/modal consistency improved: use present simple "I type every day" and "the better you become". Suggestion: remove fillers, correct verbs (take/took), simplify noun phrases, and maintain parallel structure in comparative clause. Grammar problem type ID:26}]}
