Do you eat different foods at different times of the year?

Thí sinh

Maybe yes, but not obviously. I think it depends on the seasons, on the demand, on something about the economics. But I didn't mean to try different foods at different times. I just like, I have no idea about it.

Has your favourite food changed since you were a child?

Thí sinh

Yes, my Freeview food has changed. I used to prefer noodles when I was a child, but I didn't like them anymore because I can't eat them every day and they didn't feel something special. Now I prefer more rice because it reminds me of family meals and childhood memories.

Part 1

What is your favourite food?

Điểm: 62.0

Gợi ý: Câu trả lời cần rõ ràng hơn, ngắn gọn hơn và tránh lặp từ. Nên mở đầu bằng câu chủ đề trực tiếp, sau đó đưa 1-2 chi tiết cụ thể (ví dụ món ăn yêu thích cách chế biến hoặc hoàn cảnh ăn). Dùng từ vựng chính xác và tránh lỗi ngữ pháp như 'every Vietnamese people' (đúng là 'every Vietnamese person' hoặc 'Vietnamese people'). Hạn chế tối đa câu quá dài và dùng liên từ hợp lý.

Ví dụ: My favourite food is plain steamed rice. I enjoy it because it’s versatile — I can have it with soups, stir-fries, or grilled fish — and it reminds me of home-cooked family meals.

What kind of food did you like when you were young?

Điểm: 55.0

Gợi ý: Cần cấu trúc câu rõ ràng: nêu chủ đề rồi giải thích lý do với chi tiết cụ thể. Tránh dùng các từ đệm 'like' quá nhiều và sửa lỗi ngữ pháp/đếm số (noodle -> noodles). Nên nói rõ loại mì nào, vì sao hiếm khi ăn dẫn đến thích hơn, và dùng liên từ để mạch lạc.

Ví dụ: When I was young I preferred noodles, especially instant or egg noodles. My family mainly served rice every day, so noodles felt special and different from our usual meals.

Do you eat different foods at different times of the year?

Điểm: 45.0

Gợi ý: Câu trả lời mơ hồ, thiếu chi tiết cụ thể và dùng cấu trúc lặp. Nên trả lời rõ ràng 'Yes' hoặc 'No' rồi giải thích với ví dụ mùa vụ (trái cây, đồ uống, món lễ hội) hoặc thói quen gia đình. Tránh dùng 'I have no idea' — nếu không chắc, hãy nêu khả năng hoặc nói ít nhất một ví dụ.

Ví dụ: Not really, although there are some seasonal differences. For example, in summer I often eat more fruits and cold dishes, while in winter I prefer soups and hot stews to keep warm.

Has your favourite food changed since you were a child?

Điểm: 60.0

Gợi ý: Trả lời có nội dung tốt nhưng có lỗi từ (Freeview food -> favourite food) và một số cấu trúc chưa tự nhiên. Nên bắt đầu bằng câu chủ đề rõ ràng, giải thích lý do thay đổi với chi tiết cảm xúc hoặc ví dụ cụ thể, và dùng liên từ để mạch lạc. Hạn chế câu dài và sửa thì câu (e.g., 'I couldn't eat them every day').

Ví dụ: Yes, my favourite food has changed. As a child I loved noodles because they were a treat, but now I prefer rice since it’s linked to family meals and comforting memories.

Ngữ pháp

Sentence structure errors

× I'm not a picky person so for me my favorite food is a really really common and simple to cook food is rice and in my country rice is the most popular food and every Vietnamese people eat rice every day so I love it.

I'm not a picky person, so my favorite food is rice because it is very common and easy to cook in my country; Vietnamese people eat rice every day, so I love it.

The original sentence contains run-on structure and redundant phrases; clauses are repeated and word order is awkward. Combine ideas using commas, conjunctions and relative clauses, remove repetition ('food is' twice) and use 'easy to cook' rather than 'simple to cook'. Also use 'Vietnamese people' (no 'every' before a plural noun) or 'people in Vietnam'. Suggested improvement: break long ideas into shorter clauses and avoid repeating the same noun phrase.

Incorrect use of adjectives or adverbs

× Unlike rice, when I was young my favorite food was noodles because I didn't eat noodles much.

Unlike with rice, when I was young my favourite food was noodles because I did not eat them often.

Use 'unlike with' to contrast with a category and 'them' to refer back to 'noodles'. 'Did not eat noodles much' is awkward; use 'did not eat them often'. Also maintain consistent spelling ('favourite' or 'favorite'). Suggestion: use clear pronoun reference and natural adverb placement.

Sentence structure errors

× Like almost every day my family and my parents fed me with rice.

Almost every day, my parents fed me rice.

Redundant phrase 'my family and my parents' should be simplified to 'my parents'. The verb 'feed' with a person uses the direct object (fed me rice), not 'fed me with rice'. Also place time expression 'Almost every day' at the start or end for clarity. Suggestion: remove redundancy and use correct verb-object order.

Incorrect use of adjectives or adverbs

× So like noodle is something like not uncommon for me so I like it.

So noodles were somewhat uncommon for me, so I liked them.

Singular 'noodle' is incorrect when speaking generally about the food; use plural 'noodles'. 'Something like not uncommon' is a double qualifier and awkward; use 'somewhat uncommon'. Maintain past tense 'were'/'liked' to match 'when I was young'. Suggestion: avoid filler words and choose a single clear modifier.

Present tense issue

× Maybe yes, but not obviously.

Maybe, but not really.

'Not obviously' is unnatural in this context; 'not really' is a common adverbial response. Keep present simple for general habits. Suggestion: use natural conversational adverbs.

Incorrect use of prepositions

× I think it depends on the seasons, on the demand, on something about the economics.

I think it depends on the seasons, on demand, and on economic factors.

'On the demand' is unnecessarily specific and 'something about the economics' is ungrammatical. Use 'demand' without 'the' and 'economic factors' to express general economic influences. Suggestion: use concise noun phrases.

Sentence structure errors

× But I didn't mean to try different foods at different times.

But I don't mean that I try different foods at different times.

Original mixes past tense 'didn't mean' with present habit context. The speaker intends to express a present preference/habit, so use present tense 'don't mean'. Also clarify with 'that I try'. Suggestion: keep tense consistent with the context when describing habits.

Sentence structure errors

× I just like, I have no idea about it.

I just don't know.

'I just like, I have no idea about it' is fragmented and unclear. If the speaker means they are unsure, the concise 'I just don't know' is appropriate. Suggestion: avoid filler 'like' and use a clear phrase.

Incorrect use of adjectives or adverbs

× Yes, my Freeview food has changed.

Yes, my favourite food has changed.

'Freeview' is incorrect word choice (likely a mispronunciation or typo). Use 'favourite'. Ensure correct word choice to convey intended meaning. Suggestion: check for typos and choose the intended noun.

Past tense issue

× I used to prefer noodles when I was a child, but I didn't like them anymore because I can't eat them every day and they didn't feel something special.

I used to prefer noodles when I was a child, but I no longer liked them because I could not eat them every day and they did not feel special.

Tense inconsistency: mix of past and present ('didn't like them anymore' with 'can't eat' is incorrect). Use past tense 'no longer liked', 'could not eat', and 'did not feel special'. Also 'didn't feel something special' is awkward; use 'did not feel special'. Suggestion: keep past tense consistently when describing past feelings and abilities.

Present tense issue

× Now I prefer more rice because it reminds me of family meals and childhood memories.

Now I prefer rice because it reminds me of family meals and childhood memories.

'Prefer more rice' is awkward; 'prefer rice' is sufficient. Present simple 'reminds' correctly matches current preference. Remove unnecessary 'more'. Suggestion: avoid redundant modifiers when expressing preference.
