Band 7 Example
Question: Do you think that spending time in front of a screen helps people relax?
Idea 1
Yes,for entertainment and leisure
Model Answer
I'd say it depends. If we watch a movie or TV show with the family for fun, then yes, it's a good way to relax. We can talk about what we're watching. But if we just sit and scroll through social media on our phones, I don't think it's good for anyone. It means we just spend hours looking at videos without thinking. That's not what I call relaxing.
Idea 2
No, there are potential negative effects
Model Answer
Definitely not. We spend so much time in front of screens at school or work that it's hurting our eyes. Many people need glasses now because they look at computers or phones so much. A lot of people also use their phones before bed, and this makes it harder for them to fall asleep.
Idea 3
Sometimes, for relaxation
Model Answer
It depends on what they watch. Some people like watching calm nature shows to relax, and it works for them. Others do yoga online or breathing exercises, which is also relaxing. These activities on devices can be calming and a way to escape. We don't always have to stop thinking when we're in front of a screen.
