Band 7 Example
Topic: Describe a good advertisement that you think is useful
Example
A picture of Yao Ming Where you can see it I'm going to talk about an advert featuring Yao Mong, a really famous Chinese basketball player who played in the NBA. It's on quite a few billboards near where I live, and they went up about a week ago. What it shows It's a photo of him giving a fist bump to an elephant, which is really well done and it has a clear message about the ivory trade and how it needs to be stopped. Why you think it’s useful What stands out to me is the message. It's saying that people need to stop buying ivory goods to protect elephants. He's done lots of work about this, visiting countries where poaching is an issue, trying to raise the profile of this problem. It's trying to raise people's awareness of the issue. Explain how you feel about it I think it's a really good ad, and it just says a lot about him as a person. He's appeared in numerous adverts about the ivory trade and how it needs to be stopped. He's made documentaries about the trade in elephant tusks and rhino horns and is an advocate for the banning of the trade in animal parts. It's something that I also believe in and is very close to my heart and this has increased my admiration of him.

One advertisement that stands out in my mind as particularly useful is a public service campaign advocating for mental health awareness. I stumbled upon this impactful ad while scrolling through social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram. The ad itself is visually captivating, featuring dark, brooding clouds that gradually disperse, revealing a bright sky. Overlaying the visuals are uplifting messages about seeking help and breaking the stigma surrounding mental health. A contact number for a helpline is prominently displayed at the end. By employing compelling visuals and straightforward messages, this ad actively engages its audience and educates them about the importance of mental well-being.
