The person who comes to mind when thinking about someone who loves to cook for others is my Aunt Lily. She's a homemaker by choice and a chef at heart, renowned in our family for her culinary expertise. Aunt Lily particularly enjoys cooking traditional Chinese dishes, from scrumptious dumplings to succulent Peking duck. However, what makes her kitchen endeavors stand out are her inventive fusions of Eastern and Western cuisines, such as stir-frying spaghetti with Szechuan pepper and garlic. What fuels her passion for cooking is twofold. First, she derives immense satisfaction from the act of creating something delicious from scratch. She often says that cooking is like painting on a blank canvas, where spices are her colors and the plate is her masterpiece. Second, her joy is magnified when she sees the smiles and hears the compliments from those who savor her dishes. To her, cooking is more than a hobby; it's a medium of love and connection, a way to bring people together and create lasting memories.
