Fast-food outlets contribute with straws and cutlery, and online shopping deliveries come with a lot of plastic packaging. Even disposable coffee cups and lids are frequently discarded, adding to the waste problem.

Household plastics are another major source of waste. Items like food packaging, such as cling film and plastic trays, are commonly used and discarded. Shampoo and detergent bottles are also frequently seen in the trash. Takeaway food often comes in plastic containers, and personal care items like toothbrushes add to the waste. Even plastic wrappers from snacks and candies contribute to the problem.

Industrial and agricultural plastics are also a concern. In agriculture, plastic sheeting is used extensively and often discarded improperly. Manufacturing processes generate packaging materials that contribute to waste. Construction sites leave behind plastic components, and discarded fishing nets and gear are a problem in coastal areas. Industrial plastic drums and containers also add to the waste issue.
