Overhearing a phone conversation
Where you were
I'm going to talk about an experience I had while I was sitting in a coffee shop in the city center. It was a popular spot, bustling with people coming in and out, and I was there to enjoy a quiet afternoon with a book and a cup of coffee.
When it was
This happened a couple of months ago, on a Saturday afternoon. I remember it vividly because it was one of those rare weekends when I had no plans and could just relax and unwind.
What the stranger was talking about
As I was sipping my coffee, I couldn't help but overhear a conversation from a man sitting at the table next to mine. He was talking quite loudly on his phone, and it was impossible not to catch snippets of his conversation. He seemed to be discussing a business deal, and from what I gathered, it was a pretty significant one. He was talking about figures, deadlines, and negotiations, and it sounded like he was trying to close a deal with someone on the other end of the line. He was using a lot of business jargon, which made it clear that he was quite experienced in his field.
And explain how you felt about it
Initially, I felt a bit annoyed because I was trying to concentrate on my book, and his voice was quite distracting. However, as the conversation went on, I found myself intrigued by the details of the business world that he was discussing. It was like getting a glimpse into a world that I knew little about. I also felt a bit of admiration for his confidence and ability to handle what seemed like a high-pressure situation with ease. It made me realize how different people's lives and professions can be, and how much there is to learn from just observing and listening to others. Despite the initial annoyance, it turned out to be an unexpectedly interesting experience.
