Band 7 Example
Question: Some people think that technology has made it unnecessary to learn languages. What do you think?
Idea 1
I disagree – learning languages is still important
Model Answer
I don't agree that technology makes learning languages unnecessary. Translation apps are helpful, but they often make mistakes, especially with slang or cultural phrases. If you really want to understand a place and its people, you need to know the language. Also, speaking another language is great for travel and making friends. Employers also like people who can speak more than one language, so it helps your career too.
Idea 2
But technology does make communication easier
Model Answer
But I do think technology makes communication much easier. For example, if you travel to another country, you can use Google Translate to help you order food or ask for directions. You can also chat with people from other countries online, even if you don't know their language. And there are lots of apps that make learning a new language faster and more fun.
