Band 7 Example

Question: What goals should a society have?

Idea 1

Economic Development
Model Answer
I think it's really important to balance between rich people and poor people. The money made by a society should be shared fairly among everyone. If not, there will be problems later on. People need to feel they are part of society's growth, or else they might feel left out.
I suppose the most important thing is to make sure that there is a balance between the haves and the have-nots. The wealth that a society creates needs to be fairly distributed amongst the people otherwise problems occur further down the line. People need to feel that they are part of the growth of a society as without that, they feel disenfranchised.
Grammar Analysis
Passive voice: "needs to be fairly distributed" This sentence uses the passive voice to indicate that wealth distribution is happening passively, showing the complexity of language. Conditional sentence: "otherwise problems occur" Using a conditional sentence to express that if wealth is not fairly distributed, problems will arise, demonstrating the complexity of logical thinking and sentence structure. Present perfect tense: "have been disenfranchised" This expression uses the present perfect tense to indicate a state that has persisted from the past to the present, reflecting the accuracy and complexity of grammar.

Idea 2

Social Welfare
Model Answer
Nowadays, healthcare is a big thing that people care about, so having healthcare for everyone is an important goal. With technology getting better quickly, medical care is also improving, and people know this. They want to get help when they need it. As the population in many countries is aging, more countries are trying to find ways to provide healthcare to all.
In today’s world, healthcare seems to be one of the biggest factors that people are thinking about so universal access to healthcare is a major goal. As technology is developing so fast, so is medical care and the people are very aware of this, and they want to be able to get help when they need it. I think as the population of many countries starts to get older, more countries are looking at ways to do this.
Grammar Analysis
Present continuous tense: "is developing" and "is improving" are two expressions that use the present continuous tense, indicating that the improvement of technology and healthcare is an ongoing process, demonstrating the dynamism and timeliness of language. Subordinate clause: "as the population of many countries starts to get older" uses a subordinate clause to provide a reason or background, explaining why more countries are considering this issue, increasing the complexity of the sentence. Passive voice: "to be able to get help" uses the passive voice, emphasizing that people hope to receive help, rather than who provides the help, showing the complexity of sentence structure and the accuracy of language.
