Speaking Part 3: Community

Here are some more part 3 questions with my sample answers:

1. What are some of the ways people can help others in the community, and which way is the most important?

I believe there are numerous ways individuals can assist others in their local communities. For instance, in my area, some residents volunteer to organize activity clubs for children or offer their assistance in residential homes for the elderly. Others donate money, food, or clothing to organizations that support individuals living below the poverty line. In my opinion, all forms of help are valuable, and it is difficult to rank them in terms of importance.

Example: A great way to help others is by organizing community clean-up drives. This not only promotes environmental cleanliness but also brings people together and instills a sense of responsibility towards the community.

2. Why do you think some people like to help other people?

Most people derive a sense of satisfaction and fulfillment when they extend their help to others. They understand that everyone goes through challenging times in their lives and may require support at some point. For instance, we all age, and there is a possibility of losing our jobs or facing health problems that hinder our ability to take care of ourselves. Therefore, people choose to help others because they can empathize with their struggles.

Example: Helping others gives a sense of purpose and enhances one's self-esteem. Seeing the positive impact of their actions on someone's life can be a rewarding and uplifting experience for many individuals.

3. Some people say that people help others in the community more now than they did in the past. Do you agree or disagree? Why?

I disagree with the sentiment that people are more helpful in the community now compared to the past. It is impossible to make a generalization about the level of assistance provided by individuals in their communities across different generations. Therefore, I believe it is unfair to judge or compare the level of altruism of people in the present versus the past. There have always been individuals who extend help to others as well as those who do not.

Example: The sense of community and willingness to help has existed throughout history. In the past, people relied heavily on their neighbors for support, and community bonds were incredibly strong. While the ways in which people assist each other may have evolved over time, the underlying essence of helping one another remains unchanged.
