Speaking Part 2: Your favourite season
In this section, you will learn how to effectively describe your favorite season in your country. The task requires you to discuss when the season occurs, the weather during that time, how it differs from other seasons, and explain why it is your favorite. To help you understand this task better, let's analyze a sample answer and improve its clarity by providing additional examples and explanations.
Sample Answer:
My favorite season in England is winter. Typically, winter in England lasts for about 4 or 5 months, from November to March. However, when I mention that I like winter, I am referring specifically to the coldest month or two within this period.
During these extremely wintry months, the temperature drops below zero, and it often snows. In the past few years, we have experienced heavy snowfall, causing roads to be blocked and schools to close. I vividly remember one winter morning when I looked out of my window and saw everything covered in a pristine white layer.
Undoubtedly, the presence of snow sets winter apart from the other seasons. Nevertheless, when there is no snow, the differences between winter, autumn, and spring are not significant, with winter being only slightly colder.
The reason why I have chosen winter as my favorite season is because I enjoy the snow. Being close to the countryside, I find it incredibly captivating when everything is blanketed in white. Additionally, winter is the time when we celebrate Christmas and New Year, which are my favorite festivals.
