Sample answer:

During my childhood, one indoor game that brought me immense joy was chess. Undoubtedly, chess is renowned as one of the most popular board games worldwide. It requires two players who compete against each other with the goal of defeating their opponent by capturing their pieces and ultimately trapping their King, a move known as checkmate.

I vividly recall that it was one of my classmates in primary school who introduced me to this captivating game. He possessed a compact, portable chess set, and after learning the movement of each chess piece, we began playing during our breaks and lunchtime either within our classroom or out in the school playground. Consequently, recognizing my passion, my parents gifted me my very own chess set, allowing me to indulge in the game at home as well.

Over time, I took it upon myself to teach my younger brother how to play chess. Additionally, I decided to join the school's chess club. This provided me with the opportunity to sharpen my skills by challenging some of the older students. As a result of my commitment, in my final year of primary school, I earned a place on the school's chess team. The team consisted of five members, and we eagerly participated in competitive matches against children from other primary schools within the same town.

There were various reasons why I found chess so appealing. Firstly, I relished the mental challenge it presented, as it pushed me to think several steps ahead and devise strategies to outwit my opponent. Moreover, when I first began playing the game at the age of seven or eight, chess felt mysterious and intellectually stimulating. It was a game that not only rewarded my victories but also taught me valuable lessons from my losses. I learned to graciously accept defeat and even congratulate the person who outplayed me.
