Speaking Part 2: Describe a home

One of the speaking part 2 tasks is to describe an interesting home, either a house or an apartment, that you have visited. In this task, you need to provide details about the location of the place, who lived there, and what it looked like. Additionally, you should explain why you found this home interesting.

I recently visited an apartment located in the city centre of Manchester for this task. It was situated on the 10th floor of a newly constructed building in the main commercial area of the city. From this apartment, one could enjoy the view of several bustling shopping streets of Manchester.

At the time of my visit, nobody was living in the apartment as it had just been put on the market. Accompanied by a friend who was considering moving to Manchester, we decided to explore different properties. This opportunity allowed me to see what the newest apartments had to offer.

Externally, the apartment was a part of a tall and sleek glass building, without any distinctive features. Internally, it had a relatively simple color scheme. The walls were painted in an off-white color, the floors were adorned with whitish tiles, and all the kitchen appliances had a silver metal finish. The kitchen surfaces were made of dark grey granite. However, the most notable aspect of the apartment's appearance was the large floor-to-ceiling window in the living room, allowing an influx of natural sunlight.

While the white and silver decor did not match my personal taste, I appreciated the overall cool, clean, and spacious ambiance of the apartment. One feature that caught my attention was the open-plan kitchen and living room. It was equipped with various gadgets that could be controlled using a mobile phone app. For instance, I learned how to utilize the app to manage lighting, heating, blinds, security cameras, and even the cooker. The technological advancements present in the apartment, with everything seamlessly connected via wifi, made me feel like I was glimpsing into the future.
