Speaking Part 2: Describe a conversation
In this speaking part 2 task, you are asked to describe an interesting conversation you had with someone you didn’t know. Here is a sample answer to guide you through it:
I would like to share an interesting conversation that I had a couple of weeks ago in a music shop. While I was strolling along one of the main shopping streets in the city center, my attention was drawn to a large window displaying a variety of musical instruments. Out of curiosity, I decided to enter and explore the shop.
The person I ended up talking to was a friendly shop assistant located on the second floor, in the section dedicated to acoustic guitars. Although my intention was not to engage in conversation, the assistant approached me and asked if I had any questions or needed assistance.
I explained to the assistant that I hadn't played the guitar in years, but I was curious about the differences between the various acoustic guitars showcased in the store. The assistant enthusiastically shared insights about the different makes and models, whether they were factory-made or handcrafted, the types of woods and varnishes used, the variation in sound quality, and of course, the price range.
What fascinated me about this conversation was the depth of knowledge possessed by the shop assistant. It was evident that he had a true passion for guitars and didn't mind engaging in conversation with me even though I had made it clear that I was not intending to make a purchase. To further demonstrate his expertise, he even took the initiative to pick up and play three or four different instruments, showcasing the distinctness in their sounds.
