Speaking Part 2: Describe a café
Here’s another speaking part 2 task and my sample answer.
Describe a café that you have been to recently. You should say
- where it is
- why you went there
- what you ate or drank
and explain why you liked or disliked the café.
I’m going to describe a café that I go to once a week. It’s located down the road from where I live, near Manchester. This café is really convenient for me as I can easily walk there to have a coffee or a bite to eat while using the wifi.
The most recent time I visited this local café was on Friday afternoon. I was attempting to do some work at home, but I found myself getting easily distracted by various household chores. So, I decided to change my surroundings. I put my laptop in its bag and took a short walk to the café to complete my work. The cozy atmosphere, the pleasant background noise, and a delicious cup of coffee made it much easier for me to concentrate.
During my time at the café, I enjoyed two cups of coffee and a couple of glasses of water. The café owner takes great pride in making the best ‘flat white’ coffee in the area, which is why I usually opt for that. However, on this particular occasion, I ordered a decaf coffee for my second cup to avoid consuming too much caffeine in the afternoon. Although I didn’t have anything to eat during this visit, I occasionally indulge in one of their delightful homemade cakes.
There are several reasons why I truly enjoy going to my local café. The primary factors include the exceptional quality of coffee, the availability of free wifi, and the amiable staff. Additionally, on Friday, I was fortunate enough to secure my favorite table near one of the windows, and the café was not very crowded. This created the perfect atmosphere with an ideal noise level, allowing me to wholeheartedly focus on my work without any distractions throughout most of the afternoon.
