Speaking Part 2: A time when you were busy
In this part, you will need to describe a time when you were extremely busy. Your response should include the following information:
- When this incident occurred.
- Why you were so busy.
- How you managed the situation.
- How you felt during that time.
Now, I am going to share an example from my own life. I recall a time when I procrastinated on a university assignment and had to work non-stop to complete it. This happened approximately ten years ago when I was pursuing my Master's degree.
At that time, I had a number of 3000-word assignments for different modules in my Master's course. However, there was one assignment that posed a significant challenge for me. I had been delaying it for weeks, and eventually, I found myself with only two days left to finish the entire task. This included conducting research, selecting relevant books and articles, determining my thesis and assignment title, and producing a final draft to be submitted before the deadline.
The pressure of such a tight deadline actually pushed me to approach the task in a remarkably efficient manner. Firstly, I decided on the general topic area I wanted to focus on and restricted myself to just ten research sources. I printed the most relevant pages, highlighted key paragraphs, and made concise notes to summarize and combine the intriguing ideas I found. Finally, I commenced writing the body of the assignment, leaving the title and introduction for the end.
During that time, I experienced a mix of emotions. I was frustrated with myself for leaving the assignment until the last minute, but I felt relieved and quite proud when I managed to complete the final draft so swiftly. However, the process was also quite stressful and exhausting as I had to search for articles, make photocopies, and write everything within a short span of time. It was an experience I would not want to repeat!
