In this section, we will discuss some common questions related to friends in IELTS Speaking Part 1. Along with each question, you will find a sample answer to help you understand how to respond effectively.
1. Are your friends mostly your age or different ages?
Most of my friends are around the same age as me since we got to know each other through school or university. However, I do have a few friends who are either older or younger, and I met them through work.
Sample answer: "The majority of my friends are around the same age as me as we became friends during our time at university. However, I also have a couple of friends who are either older or younger, and I got to know them through my workplace. It's great to have friends from different age groups as we bring diverse perspectives and experiences to our conversations."
2. Do you usually see your friends during the week or on weekends?
I usually prefer to meet up with my friends on weekends as everyone tends to be busy during the weekdays due to work or other commitments.
Sample answer: "I mostly see my friends on weekends since we all have various obligations during the weekdays, such as work or studies. This allows us to have more relaxed and quality time together, without the pressures of daily responsibilities."
3. The last time you saw your friends, what did you do together?
Recently, we celebrated one of my friend's birthdays. We planned a special outing to make the day memorable. Six of us went out for a delightful meal at a trendy restaurant and enjoyed each other's company while relishing delicious food.

4. In what ways are your friends important to you?
Friends play a vital role in my life as they provide emotional support, companionship, and an avenue for sharing experiences. They not only make me laugh and create joyful moments but also offer a helping hand whenever I am in need of assistance or support.
