× I used to wear a watch in my high school because in my high school we don't allow to use our phones so we just check our time by watch.
✓ I used to wear a watch in high school because in my high school we didn't allow phones, so we just checked the time with a watch.
原句“we don't allow”应为过去时的“we didn't allow”。另外搭配方面常用表达是“check the time with a watch”,而不是“check our time by watch”。
× But now I entered the college and we allowed to use our mobile phone so I usually check the time on my phone which is very convenient.
✓ But now I have entered college and we are allowed to use our mobile phones, so I usually check the time on my phone, which is very convenient.
原句“I entered the college”改为现在完成“I have entered college”更自然;“we allowed to use”缺少被动结构,应为“we are allowed to use”;“mobile phone”需复数“mobile phones”表示一般人都有手机;最后用逗号隔开非限制性定语从句“which is very convenient”。
× Have you ever got a watch as a gift?
✓ Have you ever gotten a watch as a gift? (或 Have you ever got a watch as a gift?
在美式英语中,“get”的过去分词是“gotten”,因此应写“Have you ever gotten...”。
× Oh yeah, just like I mentioned, I have a watch in my high school that's a gift, umm, from my parents because they thought that umm, as a high school student, the time is really important.
✓ Oh yeah, just like I mentioned, I had a watch in high school that was a gift from my parents because they thought that, as high school students, time was really important.
句子应保持过去时态(had/was),且“in my high school”可简化为“in high school”;“that's a gift”应为过去式“that was a gift”。另外“as a high school student”若指父母的观点应改为复数“as high school students”或保持单数但一致性更好。
× So they gave a watch to me as a birthday gift when I was umm, 17.
✓ So they gave me a watch as a birthday gift when I was 17.
语序更自然的是“gave me a watch”而不是“gave a watch to me”。
× Well I think you'd have various factors. 1st and they weren't expensive watch, maybe want to show their wealth, show their high status in society.
✓ Well, I think there are various reasons. First, some people wear expensive watches to show their wealth or high status in society.
原句结构混乱:"you'd have various factors" 不合语境,应为“there are various reasons”。随后“1st and they weren't expensive watch”语法不通,缺主语和动词,且“weren't expensive watch”错误。
× Second, maybe they want to show their efforts by earning a living by themselves to they can offer such a expensive watch.
✓ Second, maybe they want to show that they have worked hard and can afford such an expensive watch.
原句有代词和从句连接错误("to they can" 应为“that they can”或重构为“and can afford”)。“show their efforts by earning a living by themselves”表达笨重,改为“show that they have worked hard”更自然;“a expensive”应为“an expensive”。建议:注意连接词用法(that, so, and)和冠词与发音一致(a/an)。
× Well, I don't think that's so important because you know, just like I mentioned, nowadays the, the, the technology has developed very fast.
✓ Well, I don't think that's very important because, like I mentioned, nowadays technology has developed very quickly.
“that's so important”中“so”可改为更中性的“very”;重复的“the, the, the”应去掉;“has developed very fast”中副词修饰动词应使用副词形式“very quickly”。
× So nearly everyone have their phone with them when going out, so they can just check the time or other things just on the phone.
✓ So nearly everyone has their phone with them when going out, so they can just check the time or other things on their phones.
此外“just on the phone”更自然为“on their phones”,并去掉重复的“just”。
