Did you have a bike when you were a child?
Thí sinh
I actually didn't have a bike when I was a child, and I only started learning how to ride a bike when I was a teenager. And this is actually quite surprising because all of my friends and the people around me have had bikes since they were very young, around maybe four or five years old, and they've learned how to ride a bike way earlier than I have.

Do you think bikes are popular in your country?
Thí sinh
Yes, I think bikes are very popular in my country. I live in Singapore and a lot of the UMM sidewalks actually have a section for bikes and there are a lot of bike parking areas. So it is actually very efficient and convenient for people to ride bikes, especially because my country is really small so you can get anywhere with a bike.
Did you have a bike when you were a child?
Ví dụ: No, I didn't have a bike as a child. I only learned to ride when I was a teenager because my family couldn't afford one earlier. However, most of my friends started riding at around four or five, so I was much later than them.
Do you think bikes are popular in your country?
Ví dụ: Yes, bikes are quite popular in Singapore. Many pathways and cycling lanes are designated for cyclists, and there are numerous bike parking spots near MRT stations. Because the country is small and well-connected, cycling is often a quick and convenient option compared with driving.
× I actually didn't have a bike when I was a child, and I only started learning how to ride a bike when I was a teenager.
✓ I didn't have a bike when I was a child; I only started learning to ride when I was a teenager.
将两个并列句用分号或连词更紧凑;“learning how to ride a bike” 中“how to”和“a bike”可简化为“learning to ride”或“learning to ride a bike”,避免重复。
× And this is actually quite surprising because all of my friends and the people around me have had bikes since they were very young, around maybe four or five years old, and they've learned how to ride a bike way earlier than I have.
✓ This is quite surprising because all my friends and people around me had bikes from when they were very young, around four or five, and they learned to ride much earlier than I did.
使用现在完成进行到过去完成不一致,改为过去时“had”与“learned”与“than I did”保持一致;“have had...since they were very young” 与后文比较不必要,且“way earlier”较口语化,改为“much earlier”。
× I live in Singapore and a lot of the UMM sidewalks actually have a section for bikes and there are a lot of bike parking areas.
✓ I live in Singapore. Many sidewalks actually have bike lanes, and there are also many bike parking areas.
将句子分为两句以提高可读性;用“bike lanes”替代“a section for bikes”更地道;“a lot of” 改为“many”更简洁。
× So it is actually very efficient and convenient for people to ride bikes, especially because my country is really small so you can get anywhere with a bike.
✓ So it is very efficient and convenient for people to ride bikes, especially because my country is quite small, so you can get anywhere by bike.
“really small” 可用“quite small”更正式;“get anywhere with a bike” 常用搭配为“get anywhere by bike”。
