Yes, absolutely. I usually will list several things I need to purchase and rank them based on their priorities. And besides, I think it's quite essential for me 'cause it's very easy to forget something if you purchase a considerable number of things.

I think the reason might be they want to stay flexible which can avoid something unexpected happens that will broke the whole schedule.

Personally I'm more into taking write down something on my phone 'cause this is more convenient. I just need to open some apps and tile something down and no need to bring a book everywhere I go. Phone is relatively more portable.
